Our Perspective

How we see The Wexford

Seniors find comfort in the surroundings and joy in the company of staff and fellow seniors at The Wexford. It’s a beautifully landscaped, well-appointed retirement community, but people tell us the true beauty is found in the warmth of the community. The always-sunny Tsawwassen weather combined with the quiet, peaceful exterior and interior of The Wexford make community living ideal here.

Driving up to The Wexford, you’ll be impressed by its combination brick and oak exterior. Walk in and you feel like you’re stepping into a resort community where everyone is your age. There’s a friendly greeting at the door, and the main floor is posh throughout. The dining room and fitness rooms are two bright, main floor meeting places.

Those features make this a beautiful building but the striking thing about The Wexford is the allegiance and praise of seniors and their family. That comes from the thoroughness of service, the attention to detail here, and a thousand little extra touches. Even the housekeeping at The Wexford gets singled out by family members as “fantastic.” People here are treated like family.

Suites are just another special aspect of The Wexford, each very spacious, with a private patio and wide windows and a spacious open-concept kitchen. Residents take comfort in multi-tiered security that includes a 24 hour concierge and emergency call system, on top of the safety of the building and the location.

Community’s Perspective

How The Wexford sees itself

Who are you as a community?

The Wexford is a luxury senior living community with a coastal-inspired design that reflects our location in sunny Tsawwassen. We have a boutique-style community with only sixty-five suites, and residents describe themselves as a close-knit family. Our central location between the unique shops of downtown Tsawwaassen and the shopping and services at Tsawwassen Mills offers convenience and entertainment. Seniors who love sunny days and ocean breezes and who are looking for all-inclusive independent living in a luxurious setting will love life at The Wexford.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

Our Executive Chef and his team work extremely hard to ensure you eat what you want daily. Our menus feature fresh food made in-house and often using local ingredients. Lunch and dinner each include the choice of two entrees and soup or salad. And if you don't like the options, you can choose one of many delicious items off our featured menu. And, If you don't see what you want on the feature menu, Chef Sean and his team will go above and beyond to accommodate you! All you have to do is ask.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

We have a well-planned move-in orientation to ensure new residents can get comfortable as quickly as possible. This includes connecting with the GM, Executive Chef, and Lifestyle and Wellness manager. You get a chance to know whose who right away. In addition, our 24-hour reception team is there to help you get to know the building and the services any time of the day. Once you're settled, you and your family can enjoy a complimentary Welcome Home dinner in our dining for up to 6 people.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

The Wexford has not responded to this question yet.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

The Wexford has not responded to this question yet.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

Often new residents are surprised at how quickly they become part of The Wexford family. Because we're a smaller community, it's easy to connect with your neighbours over a game of billiards or at the table over dinner. New residents find that they feel at home very quickly. Our service is personal, and we pay special attention to you as an individual—you are known, seen and loved in this community.

How will your community change in the next five years?

The Wexford has not responded to this question yet.

What five facts about your community should people know?

1. We're a 65-suite luxury independent senior living community in sunny Tsawwassen, BC.
2. Living car-free is easy! We have a courtesy shuttle for personal trips in the area. Our 18-passenger bus goes out for trips 2-3 times a week. We're located just 1 km from downtown Tsawwassen, providing easy access for those on electric bikes, trikes and scooters.
3. Our food is made fresh in-house daily, and our culinary team is led by a red seal certified Executive Chef.
4. Our beautiful rooftop garden has 360° views of the surrounding area and features comfortable furnishings for lounging in the sun.
5. Your voice matters to us. You have an open door to our General Manager to share feedback, concerns and questions.

Testimonials and Stories

  • What Bria Resident's Say: Desley's Story

I’m Desley Cook, and I’m 86 years, 87 in July. And I live at The Wexford, and I’m very happy with being here. It’s like a home away from home.

The girls downstairs are all wonderful; they take good care of us. They always have open arms for us and make us feel wanted. The chef is really nice, and he serves us. If we don’t like what we get, we can ask for something different.

We have wonderful entertainment here. We have sing-alongs, and we dance, and we do all these crazy things old people aren’t supposed to do, but we do. I just appreciate it all.

You can be busy all day, or you can go to your room and close it and be private. And that’s another thing I like, you don’t feel obligated to be out and doing things, and that’s nice.

I think it’s the freedom and yet you feel secure. You know that going to bed at night, you’re secure. If you don’t feel well, we have buttons all over the place, and you can press them; they can get you an ambulance or whatever you need. And they know what they’re doing. That’s what I like.

We have all the securities we need here. When I go to bed at night I feel safe, I just turn my lights off and that’ sit. I feel safe at all times. And that’s of great importance to an older person.

General Manager's Message
Matthew Barluk

My name is Matt. I've been the General Manager at The Wexford since March 2025 and have been part of the Bria Communities family since 2020, when I joined the team at The Waterford as their Executive Chef.
I've hung up my chef's jacket, but I'm thankful for the valuable lessons I learned in the kitchen about listening to residents, leading a staff team, and delivering excellent service.

You'll love life at The Wexford. With only 65 suites, we are a small, close-knit community that cares for each other and has a ton of fun. Our Lifestyle and Wellness team is second to none when it comes to planning parties, events and entertainment. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy all of Tsawwassen as you run errands in our courtesy shuttle or take day trips on our Bria Bus.

Our Red Seal Executive Chef and the culinary team prepare fresh food in our kitchens daily. You'll find lots of healthy choices and tasty desserts for those with a sweet tooth.

Visit us for a tour; we'd love to get to know you better. Drop me a line any time at [email protected]
