How we see Verve Aspen Woods
Calgary seniors living alone or in a house they’ve outgrown will find that Aspen Woods makes life better as soon as they move in. It’s desirable living that reminds people of a luxury hotel. You’ll like being surrounded by active seniors, bountiful amenities and activities, and caring staff.
One of the things that impresses us the most is the rich activity schedule that includes everything from Bingo to movie nights to guided meditation to Zumba to wine and cheese socials to shopping outings. The list of upscale amenities includes concierge service, an art studio, indoor health club with saltwater pool, a hobby garden, a salon, movie theatre, an all-day café, a bistro-pub, and fine dining. People live well here!
Care staff here are very professional and work efficiently; there’s a unique combination of attentiveness and unobtrusiveness. Meals are chef-prepared, with a varying menu, and fare that uses fresh ingredients. Everything about Aspen Woods is service-oriented, treating residents like staff would treat their own family. The setting — truly premium senior living — brings out the best in people.

Who are you as a community?
Verve Aspen Woods is an upscale neighbourhood on Calgary's west side, boasting wooded landscapes, panoramic mountain views and easy access to downtown. At home in one of Calgary’s most desirable neighbourhoods with beautifully appointed amenities within, Verve Aspen Woods offers the perfect setting for your active enjoyment of life. Verve Aspen Woods boasts a wealth of upscale amenities, including concierge service, health club with a pool, hobby garden, luxury salon, theatre, an all-day café, bistro-pub and fine dining. Stroll nearby nature trails or browse local boutiques at Aspen Landing Shopping Centre and West Springs Centre.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?
We love hosting live entertainers in the residence, we’ll have a party for any and every occasion, our residents savour fine cuisine from our Chefs and there is plenty of opportunities for participating in activities and exercise at all levels. One of the many compliments we receive is about our caring team. The dining staff will not only know your name, but also exactly how you like your coffee or tea. From the housekeepers to our Health and Wellness team, the depth of care for our residents shines in every interaction. Our friendly reception is available morning to evening to assist in every way.
What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?
At our community we connect new residents with resident ambassadors. Our warm welcoming residents are always excited to meet newcomers and help guide them in their new home. The Life Enrichment team plays an integral role in aligning new resident interests with our activities.
How are residents supported if their needs change?
With 24/7 care staff on-site, Verve Aspen Woods can support residents with increased care needs. We offer a la carte care services for Independent Living residents, enabling them to continue thriving in their suites. If care needs become more frequent or unpredictable, residents also have the option to transition to our Assisted Living neighbourhood.
Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?
Verve Aspen Woods supports seniors with a wide range of care needs. As we are not a long-term care community, support for mechanical lifts or slings is not available.
What might residents find surprising about your community?
“I should have moved in years ago”, is something we hear often from our new residents. After settling in, they are amazed at how well they are able to maintain their independence without the worry or hassle of managing their own home. Many marvel at the improved quality of their family relationships. Instead of family visits being consumed by chores, the new reality means loved ones can simply visit and enjoy each other’s company over a coffee in the courtyard or dine together in the main Dining Room or even host a lovely catered family dinner in the Private Dining Room.
How will your community change in the next five years?
Over the next five years, Verve Aspen Woods will continue to build on our philosophy of making every day great—enhancing programs, amenities, and personalized care to reflect the evolving interests of our residents. Our residents will see a continued focus on wellness, with more tailored experiences that support mind, body, and spirit, along with expanded social and cultural programming shaped by resident input. As we grow, our commitment remains the same: to offer an engaging, upscale environment where you can live independently, stay active, and feel fully supported every step of the way.
What five facts about your community should people know?
We offer up to 3 nights complimentary trial stays for people wishing to sample life in a retirement residence.
80% of our suites are Independent Living while the other 20% are Assisted Living suites — a vibrant mix of independent residents, from couples to single residents.
Truly all-inclusive living – our resident’s only extra costs are their personal telephone and indoor heated parking.
Supportive and Care services are available as residents age – we can bring scheduled care to Independent Living suites to help those residents maintain their independence.
We offer short term respite care suites for individuals needing post hospital care or require support when their regular caregiver is out of town.
