Berwick House in the Gordon Head area of Victoria is an award-winning, established community that brought the company’s original vision to fruition. Management has a reputation for hard work, dedication, and deep empathy. New renovations launched in 2022 give this residence a revitalized look and feel.
Seniors find comfort in the surroundings and joy in the company of staff and fellow seniors at The Wexford. It’s a beautifully landscaped, well-appointed retirement community, but people tell us the true beauty is found in the warmth of the community. The always-sunny Tsawwassen weather combined with the quiet, peaceful exterior and interior of The Wexford make community living ideal here.
I came last week for dinner with my uncle and was very surprised by the 5 star service. I expected flavorless food and a sleepy atmosphere but it was lively! Every dinner service has a soup course, multiple options for entrees, and dessert. Alcohol is offered as well. The food came very fast. Our waitress was very attentive, she even remembered all of our names. The staff is young and energetic, when you come into the dining room everyone says hello and when you leave everyone says have a good night.
I can’t say enough about the kind nursing and restaurant staff looking after my Dad in their BRIO unit which provides the 24-hour care that is needed at Berwick House - Shelbourne in Victoria, BC, Canada. Natalie, Jessie, Miki, and Jenna, just to name a few of the care attendants who have been amazing. Catherine, RCA, helping coordinate things and the weekend and night nurse staff. Special mention to Spencer and Anna and to the twin sisters, Molly and Jill (who also smile with their eyes) in the main dining room showing exemplary customer service just to name a few have really made for a wonderful stay. Fernanda at reception was the first to welcome us and Tom Goluza, the GM personally ensured our family that they will do their very best in care for my Dad. Thanks to the whole team here.
Great care. Five stars.
My Mum lived in her suite for 10 years ... I highly [recommend them] at Shelbourne. All of the staff are excellent, they treat everyone just like family. I have never had a negative thing to say about anyone and the food is excellent.
If you can no longer live on your own this represents the best level of independence you can achieve. Life happens! The staff are first class and kind and respect your privacy whilst welcoming and supporting you in a new world for you.
Enjoying the space, friends and amenities. Lots to do and a lovely suite I can call home.
My father and I visited a number of seniors' residences, and The Wexford is far and away the best we visited. The clean, modern facilities give the feeling of being in a luxury hotel. The fixtures and layouts of the suites are well-thought out for function and aesthetics. And the food is delicious!
I have been at the Wexford since Feb. 1 and I love, love, love it!!!! Everyone is wonderful and that includes the residents. I am having so much fun interacting with people and staff. Best decision I ever made.
Mom loves her new home and meeting new people. I have peace of mind knowing she has access to everything she needs. The staff and service provided is amazing!

The Wexford is a luxury senior living community with a coastal-inspired design that reflects our location in sunny Tsawwassen. We have a boutique-style community with only sixty-five suites, and residents describe themselves as a close-knit family. Our central location between the unique shops of downtown Tsawwaassen and the shopping and services at Tsawwassen Mills offers convenience and entertainment. Seniors who love sunny days and ocean breezes and who are looking for all-inclusive independent living in a luxurious setting will love life at The Wexford.
Berwick offers a resort-style lifestyle in unparalleled locations throughout British Columbia. it's inspired senior living designed to empower independent seniors to thrive, stay active and engaged. Our resort-style amenities and services enable residents to age on their own terms. With multiple dining venues from restaurant-style dining rooms, a grab n' go Bistro and beautifully designed lounges offering seasonal menus and local wines, fitness centres with state-of-the-art equipment, many thoughtfully designed multipurpose spaces for more opportunities to engage with others or pursue interests on your own time, expansive suites with kitchenettes, and a robust wellness program all designed to help you maintain your independence.
Our Executive Chef and his team work extremely hard to ensure you eat what you want daily. Our menus feature fresh food made in-house and often using local ingredients. Lunch and dinner each include the choice of two entrees and soup or salad. And if you don't like the options, you can choose one of many delicious items off our featured menu. And, If you don't see what you want on the feature menu, Chef Sean and his team will go above and beyond to accommodate you! All you have to do is ask.
As advocates for seniors, we believe that by learning about their lives and interests, and helping them articulate their needs and wants, we can truly facilitate the transition from a situation that is not quite working anymore, whether to our community or elsewhere. In the event that one of these amazing people decides to call Berwick their home, we are then able to welcome them in a way that says, “This is home.”
We have a well-planned move-in orientation to ensure new residents can get comfortable as quickly as possible. This includes connecting with the GM, Executive Chef, and Lifestyle and Wellness manager. You get a chance to know whose who right away. In addition, our 24-hour reception team is there to help you get to know the building and the services any time of the day. Once you're settled, you and your family can enjoy a complimentary Welcome Home dinner in our dining for up to 6 people.
At Berwick House, residents can continue living independently while arranging additional support if their needs change. Assisted living services and private home-care providers can be coordinated to help with daily activities while residents remain in familiar surroundings. If a resident eventually requires 24-hour nursing care, the resident and/or family should contact Island Health or a local private pay facility for assessment and placement in long-term care.

We are proud to be locally-owned and operated by father and son, Gordon and Chris Denford. From the opening of our very first retirement community, the Denford’s realized the importance of creating a warm and welcoming community that put the needs of our residents first. Gordon and Chris are actively involved in the development and operation of each unique location and their philosophy of accessible, approachable and effective listening allows Berwick to adapt quickly to the residents’ changing needs. Their openness and commitment to our residents can be felt in every aspect of life at all our Berwick’s.
Often new residents are surprised at how quickly they become part of The Wexford family. Because we're a smaller community, it's easy to connect with your neighbours over a game of billiards or at the table over dinner. New residents find that they feel at home very quickly. Our service is personal, and we pay special attention to you as an individual—you are known, seen and loved in this community.
