My mom likes GP because of the quiet and homey feel. She feels very comfortable living there. The people there take excellent care of her. If she is having a crisis they are there for her and supporting her in her needs. I would recommend GP because of the care and the country charm that GP has. My mother-in-law was also there and unfortunately she needed more medical help but the people there went far beyond what they needed to do. The meals that they have are your basic usual meal plans that meet the residents needs. If there is something that they don't really care for they will try to accommodate them. The rooms are cleaned very well and the laundry is also well done. They have activities for the residents, from games or people coming in to entertain them with music.
Building, amenities & suites

What stands out is the country charm. The way it is decorated inside gives you the warmth and feeling of you are home. It is situated back from the main road so you don't here the traffic. You open your windows and you hear the birds. Every now and then you can get a smell of the outdoor woodstove burning. Her room is bright and decorated the way my mom likes it.
Staff

The staff members are top notch. They care for their residents as if they were their own family. My mom had a situation once and the staff stayed with her until they knew she was ok. I can't say anything wrong about the staff.
Residents and community life

The other residents are awesome. Every time I go in someone is always saying hi with a smile. It makes you feel welcomed. My mom made some nice friends right away, and the welcomed her with open arms.
Activities and services

They usually have something every day. It could be games with pool noodles, bingo, crafts, or someone entertaining with music. My mom doesn't participate much but when she does she enjoys herself. She might not admit to it but on pictures she is smiling.
Care and medical attention

My mom is getting great care. She is getting her medication on time and is getting help with her baths. She has some issues where she needs to be calmed down and they are there for her to get her relaxed.
Food and drink

The meals are planned out well. I'm sure it's not easy to make sure some foods are not good for some residents because of allergies or other health issues. If you are not feeling well, they will bring it to your room. They try to accommodate everyone there. If there is something you do not like, they will make you something else.
Moving in

The move-in was easy. My mom adjusted well, and they were very welcoming. If there was an issue, the staff helped my mom transition into a warm and inviting place to stay.

I've been a resident at Golden Pond for 16 years now. The owners and employees are loving and family-oriented. I find the care given is good, to understanding that even if all you need is a hug, it's there for you. Being out of town a ways, we see some wildlife here. Deer have been seen drinking at the pond outside the dining room early in the morning. Also, Canada geese have babies every year, and beavers and otters also visit our pond. It is a wonderful place to live. We also have house pets, cats, and dogs. Golden Pond is not only a retirement home, it is also a wonderful place in the middle of nature, and to me, it's HOME.
