Interview with Berwick On The Lake resident, Myrna Green

I moved here from a condo, and I think this was the greatest move I have ever made. In condos, you meet people, but you don’t really see them too often. And there are no social activities going on. Now that I’m at Berwick on the Lake, I’m socializing a lot more and taking part in some of the activities that I enjoy doing. So I’m very happy here and very glad that I made the transition.

The Brain Games strengthen your brain. I love playing cards, and the trips that they take to different areas of interest. I haven’t gotten into the physical ones yet due to some issues I have, but I hope to join the exercise activities in the near future. We also went to the sand castles, and just a scenic drive to different areas, just getting out and about from Berwick on the Lake.

Very good. I find that the people are very friendly, and the staff is friendly. It’s an enjoyable place to be at Berwick on the Lake

They’re great. The wait staff in the dining room are quite young, and I’m very impressed with them. They’re very polite, they’re very respectful, they’re very helpful, and I guess I admire them for being so patient with us seniors, us old folks.

When I decided that I wanted to no longer own anything, I started looking around at places. When I came to Berwick on the Lake, just walking in the door, it was very welcoming. The atmosphere almost reminded me of checking into an upscale hotel, whereas the others didn’t give me that impression.

I made a comment to a friend that I would move to Berwick willingly, but you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming to the others.

The process of moving to Berwick on the Lake was good. They recommended movers who were familiar with moving a lot of people in. Also, they gave me the name of a company that helped with downsizing. So I used them, and the move went smoothly. 

I marked off where I wanted my furniture, etc. When they brought it up, I wasn’t in the suite, but they pretty much put it where I wanted it. And as far as the unpacking and packing, the other company took care of most of that.

I would say I felt at home within a month of moving to Berwick on the Lake.

I think that they should consider why they want to move, why they are moving, and then look around to see what their current needs are, what their future needs will be, and will they be met?

I think that when they move, they should accept Berwick on the Lake as their home and not compare it to what they left, because they left for a reason, and it’s never going to be what you left. Make it your home as quickly as you can, when you get the pictures on the wall and your stuff in the cupboards and whatever. And just keep memories of your home.

If I were to do it all over again, I’d start downsizing quicker.

I think again, just why are you moving? What is it you need? Will this place meet your needs now and in the future? 

I’ve met so many wonderful people at Berwick on the Lake who have led interesting lives, and we do have a lot of fun and laughs together. Just get out there and socialize and meet the people because they are interesting.
