This new 230 suite development opens an exciting opportunity for Waterloo-Wellington and area seniors seeking to get in on a still-very-new community. You’ll be onsite at University of Waterloo, benefiting from the expertise of Schlegel Villages and their work with the Research Institute for Aging.
Walk in, and you’ll find friends interacting happily, supported by Schlegel's innovative village design and layout (featuring a Town Square and more). With its proximity to UW and Laurel Creek Conservation, you’ll have nature, learning, and friends, all just outside the door. This began as exclusively long term care, but the spectrum of options now includes assisted living and memory care. It’s ideal for couples with different care needs to remain together in the same community, if one spouse is independent, but the other requires care. It’s also ideal for families and seniors who anticipate shifting care needs in the future.

We had lunch at Ruby's, and I had Parmesan chicken on a bun with salad, and it was delicious. The view from the 10th floor was great!
I had agonized for almost 2 months about moving my wife, who has dementia, into University Gates as I felt she would reject the idea and would not be accepting of the move.
I had several visits with Sophia and Sandy, and they were very understanding and supportive of the situation, understanding and listening to my concerns and questions, and always being very patient and caring about the situation and offering reassurance and support.
I moved my wife into UG in early January, and I can truthfully say that my time agonizing was totally wasted.
I cannot express enough thanks to Sophia, Sandy, and Alex, along with the excellent staff at Emma’s neighbourhood, for accepting my wife and the attention to any concerns and support provided that resulted in her acceptance of the move and my wife now feeling content, happy, and participating in the daily activities provided at UG.
I’ve not only found the facilities to be first-rate but, more importantly, the staff are exceptional.
Nice and friendly retirement home. The people are nice. Staff workers are nice. I have family and a friend who live there. It is overall nice!
I have had a couple of family members be patients here, and the service and warm welcome are constant. University Gates supersedes my expectations, and everyone is made to feel like family.
Friendly staff and good meals. I enjoyed the patio.

The attendants were helping the residents with their lunch during my 2 hour visit to Gerry. They helped each resident as they ate and then moved them to the common area. They showed kindness and patience to everyone and some of the attendants also joked with the residents. The dining room was very.clean as were the other spaces.
I just want to say I can’t say enough good things about the staff in the Hagey area. A special thanks to Gardeep and Gokol. I appreciate so much the love and care they give my dad. A very heartfelt thank you!!!!!!
Beautiful common spaces, lots of organized activities. They are taking great care of my father-in-law. And the Ruby (the restaurant on the top floor) is a nice added bonus.

My Aunt and Uncle are residents, fabulous facility!!
My mother was in the Pollock neighbourhood for approx 4 months. She received wonderful care. The nurses and PSW’s were all very kind, kept our family informed and showed great concern and compassion for her and her health. The facility itself is very nice and it has a nice up beat feel to it. You can visit any time you like and stay involved with your loved one very easily. Highly recommend.
There's a balance of really good care, the community love—people really care—and safety.
Beautiful village and amazing staff from top to bottom! Moved my 92 year old gramma into village 17 months ago and she's looking and feeling 10 years younger! She doesn't know why she waited so long! Great meals and tons of amenities and activities! I recommend this village for any senior who needs a bit or a lot of help!
