Reviews of The Manor Village at Fish Creek Park

Gain exclusive insight into life at The Manor Village at Fish Creek Park. Comfort Life’s reviews give you exclusive insider information.

Our perspective

The Manor Village at Fish Creek Park is another example of senior living excellence in action. There’s a long list of amenities and a wide array of activities that fill seniors’ days to the brim. It also has a full continuum of care. Beyond that, though, The Manor Village develops a deeply loving community. We’ve heard numerous examples of how the exceptional care staff go beyond duty to commit random acts of selflessness for both seniors and visiting family.

There’s an ingrained culture of kindness. Families and residents become very comfortable with the loving community here. They “do little things that make a difference,” says one family member, and even advise families how to make their senior loved one’s life a bit better.

Tour the Manor Village and you’ll see how the conscientiousness of the administration and staff carries over to creating a vibrant community. Fitness programs are well-attended. Games are going on, including Bridge and Bingo. There’s a fifth-floor patio, along with The Garden Café, and The Medallion Dining Room. People rave about exceptional food crafted by a Red Seal Chef, served with a smile. In addition, there’s regular live entertainment, and outings for shopping, and still more.

They care for the whole person here. Consequently, families will see a different side of their parents or loved ones who are liberated by the setting. People have fun together because they’re literally carefree. Some attest to the fact that their life in the Manor is, in some ways, the best part of their lives.

My sister’s been there for almost 2 years and everything has been great! The process to get the paperwork completed and to move in was seamless, the staff has been amazing and friendly. Very happy with our experience there.

We are so very pleased that our mom has settled into such a caring and kind community. The staff is amazing, from the receptionist to the maintenance to the dining staff and beyond. Laura has been an exceptional support during this transition and we are happy that our mom is able to find joy in her new home!

Linda Seggie, family member

The transition from her home of 50 years to The Manor was a huge lifestyle change for Mom. It wasn't easy but the staff and residents are so welcoming, accommodating and inclusive, it wasn't long before Mom had a very active social circle. The Chef and dining staff ensure that Mom has the proper nutrition. Housekeeping does all the difficult tasks (ie. Vacuum and bed making). The entertainment and activities are non-stop. Mom says she doesn't have time to do all the events and outings.

Mom started out extremely pessimistic about the move but The Manor has gone above and beyond to ensure that she is healthy, happy and safe. All of this within 8 months is miraculous. What an amazing place to spend those "golden" years. I would highly recommend The Manor Village.

We recently celebrated our mothers 90th birthday with family members and guests in the private dining room at Manor Village. The care and service provide by the dining room and kitchen staff was exceptional! Every detail was attended to with professionalism and a warm smile. We are so fortunate to have our mother living here!

My parents, at ages 88 and 92, are residents at The Manor Village at Fish Creek Park (“The Manor”). They moved in December 2021 and are content and happy in their new home.

As everyone knows, leaving a home of many many years is heartbreaking, stressful and overwhelming. We felt no different when it was time for us to make the very difficult decision to move.

We did our due diligence, toured every residence in the area and talked with all resources and professionals available to us.

As a result of our efforts - The Manor clearly became the best choice for Mom and Dad.

The mindset of the The Manor is “this is your home”! The staff and the executive work tirelessly to make each resident feel at home and encourage ideas and suggestions to enhance or improve their lifestyles.

Our decision to choose The Manor was based on the facility:

Different levels of care
Bright
Clean
The suites feel like a home: large windows, generous is size, fully equipped (if desired) and beautifully appointed
Wonderful amenities
Nonstop activities
Heated underground parking
Heated underground visitor parking (no cost)
Close to Amenities, Fish Creek Park, LRT Station and major routes

Regarding the Staff: always smiling and happy, no request ever appears to be too much, so friendly and very professional
Mom and Dad are coming up to a year of residency and are enjoying the amenities, activities, and new friendships they have made. Mom now has her bridge group play at The Manor, the ladies love the parking, refreshments, and private room The Manor provides.

We are so comfortable that I recently had my wedding at The Manor. It was like getting married in my parent’s home but even better with the fabulous staff so engaged, helpful and willing to make my day extra special.

Before Mom and Dad moved in, I asked on resident if she was happy at The Manor. Her response: “Let me put it this way, if you have to make this move – this is the place to be.”

I can’t say it any better.

My parents moved to The Manor Village last October and absolutely love being part of this wonderful community. I was nervous at first moving them from their home in High River, but from the beginning the amazing Laura (Lifestyle Manager), all of the front desk staff, Dining Room Manager Antoun, the nurses, the cleaners - it really has given us the peace of mind knowing Mom & Dad are being well taken care of. A class act of a place to live! I organized an 80th Birthday celebration for my Dad on May 8th (also a busy Mother's Day for the dining room staff!) and it was just lovely. The help & attention we received from the beginning of the planning, to the delicious dinner, to all of the little things that helped this be so special will be appreciated & remembered always... Antoun [is] always helpful, professional & the perfect gentleman to all of his residents [and] the chef and kitchen staff that pulled it all together.

We recently booked the Medallion dining room to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday with our family. It was a great dinner. The food was excellent and our servers were delightful. Thank you to Dining room Manager Antoun, Chef Don, and all the staff for a lovely celebration.

2 years ago my wife and I came to Calgary and started living at The Manor Village Fish Creek Park. We are so pleased with our choice %100 of the staff have gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. The period of restricted living now over was so well handled. Now that our liberty has been restored we have been able to invite friends and relations to eat in the Medallion Room which is most attractive and handled so well by Antoun the manager.

Larry Ross, resident

Both the food service and the quality of the food were excellent and much improved over our previous [COVID-19] shutdown. As always, the staff were particularly helpful and a joy to experience.

Shirley and Donald Weiss, resident

We recently came out of our second lockdown due to Covid 19. Because of the excellent planning of our Dinning Room Manager, Antoun, and his staff of servers, it was a much better experience. The food was presented hot and appetizing on China Plates by a very Happy Group. Before they left, they made sure we had everything we wanted and were happy and content.

I witnessed a wonderful act of kindness a couple weeks ago when I went to visit my friend around 8:30 pm. As I stepped off the elevator on the floor for those suffering from dementia I could hear beautiful music. I looked over by the Christmas tree and there was a staff member ballroom dancing with a resident. Not another soul to be seen, just the two of them. The caregiver smiled at me and the lady was just beaming with happiness. I stood there soaking up the moment. Grateful to have seen this unexpected scene that is now engraved in my mind. It just reinforced what a good decision we made moving my friend here.

There is no place like this in Calgary. We toured many places before moving my mom to the Manor at Fish Creek...She has the best care in the world. The staff are kind, caring and do the little things that make a difference. They made the journey for us bearable and are always suggesting ways that we can help mom. They organize activities with mom and make sure that she goes on different floors to do those activities. They make sure she eats well and listen to my wishes when I ask. When there is an issue they are open to feedback and make changes immediately. The staff on the memory care floor are angels on earth. I can never thank them enough and I hope that they know that every single one of them is appreciated beyond words! Pay the money! I promise it is worth it! I never ever worry about my mom. I now get to visit her and spend time with her without the distractions of organizing outings, medications , daily care etc. They literally take care of everything. And I mean everything. There is a doctor on site every week. They even brought and ECG machine on a Tuesday so I didn’t have to take mom out. They do activities for special holidays, take her down to play bridge. Most of all they treat her with dignity and respect.
