After comparing many retirement residences for my parents, Four Elms was without question the best choice we found — the warmest, most welcoming, and the best value by far. Since my parents moved in, they have been incredibly happy with every aspect of their experience, from the delicious food and engaging activities to the friendly residents and genuinely caring staff. They wish that they had moved there years ago!
The atmosphere is modern and inviting, and their apartment is beautiful and spacious. A very special mention goes to Shayna List, who truly held our hands through the entire process from beginning to end. She knew exactly how to support my mother, who was very trepidatious about the move, and did so with exceptional warmth, patience, and compassion.
I can’t recommend Four Elms highly enough to anyone looking for a retirement residence. It has given our family real peace of mind.

I wanted to personally thank the staff at Four Elms in Dufferin and Steeles. In particular, Ms. Tashi Lhanzey and Ms. Shayna List. They played a pivotal role in my family, moving my dad, Noshir Mistry, to this location from another retirement residence. The location is great, with lots of activities and encouragement from the staff. Dad is in an assisted living suite and has adjusted very quickly to the new environment. I would definitely recommend exploring this location before deciding on moving family members to a retirement home.

My mother decided to go to the assisted living floor as she knew she needed more assistance. I was a caregiver for her for 2 years. The care from all the PSWs was amazing to the point that these have become her friends. She is much more active, helps getting dressed everyday, and looks so forward to the activities. She has really excelled in terms of the activity and her will to keep going. She hardly watches TV anymore as she has purpose. It's like being on a cruise ship daily...lol.
I am so impressed by the care each person has. They work so hard there because it is their passion and all have so much patience. Takes special people to be caregivers.
And for my personal well-being, it is a comfort to know she is being looked after and content and happy. It really does free up my time as I can visit less and know she is taken care of.
Makes a big difference and gives peace of mind. Remember that senior residence is 2 fold. Care for the resident and comfort for the children of them.

I recently stayed at Four Elms as a respite. My overall stay was that of being on a cruise ship on land! The staff was very accommodating and very pleasant. The food was delicious and nutritious. The activities and entertainment were enjoyable. We even enjoyed happy hour with wine and a treat a couple of times a week. We were kept busy with games, etc. I loved this place. It’s not if I will return… but when.

My mom moved into assisted living at Four Elms in her mid-90's, having always lived independently in her own home. The attentive care and tremendous kindness she received at Four Elms, from the very first day she arrived, was second to none. Mom loved her suite, the courtyard, the meals, and ALL of the staff, from the receptionists, nurses, and PSWs to the maintenance workers. As her daughter, who was on-site multiple times throughout every week, I cannot recommend Four Elms highly enough in terms of services, support, and genuine kindness. This residence is a clean, safe, and well-managed environment with responsive and caring staff.

I have had an exceptional experience with Four Elms, right from the first contact. My Mother suddenly became incapacitated, and I was in the position of having to find a care facility for her in a very short time frame. I reached out to Four Elms and spoke with their Community Relations Manager (Tashi Lhanzey), who told me that there was, in fact, a room available. I thought I would never be able to find something so fast, but Tashi was so wonderful; she helped me with every step of the process. We viewed the room, signed the paperwork, and within a week, we had started moving in.
This all sounds nice and easy, but there were SO many details to take care of, it was pretty overwhelming. But Tashi and all of the staff there were unbelievably helpful, doing everything from sharing information about moving/transitioning, helping with medical care set-up, and even doing the requisite physical assessment in the hospital since that's where my Mom was at the time.
We haven't had a chance yet to experience much of the amenities there, but my initial impression is - WOW. So many beautiful rooms (dining rooms that look like 5-star restaurants!), library, activity rooms, hair salon, snack rooms.. and the activities that I have seen so far look like so much fun, and all seem geared towards helping the residents stay fit and healthy, and enjoy social time together.
Every person that I've dealt with so far at Four Elms has been pleasant, helpful, and kind both to me and to my Mom, and just over-the-top wonderful to work with. They have gone so far above and beyond to make this work for us, and also to make my Mom feel special and cared for. I am so blessed to have found this place!!

I had the pleasure of staying at Four Elms for respite care for a week after having a hip replacement in January. My room was lovely, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The community relations staff, Mike and Sarah, were both helpful, welcoming, and made sure I had all that I needed. There were even some extra snacks and activities to keep me busy, as well as a plant for me to take home. The staff were kind enough to bring all my meals to my room per my request. They were so kind and even helped assist me with putting on my compression socks. All in all, it was the right decision to stay there to help me get back on my feet...literally. Would highly recommend.

Our mother was a resident at Four Elms for the past 18 months until her passing at age 92. What a gift it was for our family. The residents were sweet, the options for food and activities were amazing, and her own personal suite was bright and beautiful. However, by far the highlight of her stay has been the attentiveness and caring of the staff throughout the entire place, from cleaning service to front desk to management. 5 stars for Four Elms with thanks.

I am a young (72) independent senior, living alone in my own home. I recently stayed at Four Elms Retirement Residence for the first two weeks after a Total Knee Replacement. It was the best decision I could have made, and I recommend this solution to anyone! It gave my recovery a great start! The friendly, compassionate, and always-professional staff made me feel very welcome, and completely safe and secure. They greatly exceeded the support I would have had from well-meaning friends and family, had I chosen instead to start my recovery at home alone. Let’s face it, our friends and family have busy lives too.
I was accommodated in a beautifully furnished and maintained respite suite, with care and support 24 hours at the push of a call button. I enjoyed meals that were tasty, interesting, and satisfying, without leaving me feeling stuffed. I also enjoyed conversation with charming companions when I went to the dining room. I was never lonely. Meals were cheerfully provided by tray in my suite until I felt I wanted to join others in the dining room. I’d often have a little snack dropped off in the evening while I was icing my new knee and watching the news. My needs were anticipated beautifully, my privacy was always respected, and my presence was welcomed at activity sessions (of which there were many to choose from). Four Elms was an excellent decision for a respite stay!

Four Elms Retirement Home is truly a wonderful place for seniors to live out their golden years. The staff are incredibly caring, and attentive and go above and beyond to make sure residents are comfortable and happy. The facilities are well-maintained and clean, and offer a variety of amenities to keep residents active and engaged. The sense of community among residents is strong, with plenty of opportunities for socializing and making new friends. If you are looking for a place that treats your family member as well if not better than how you would, then Four Elms is the place for you. As you enter the doors the ladies at reception give you such a warm welcome you feel like your family. The residence is bright, clean, and smells great. The hallways are wide and rooms are spacious and designed with maximum space usage. The food is delicious!!! 5-star rating. The activities and entertainment they have is top-notch and are accommodating for all physical abilities.
The nursing staff treat my Mother as if she was theirs. They give her the utmost respect, and empathy and are very compassionate. The administrative staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful in arranging all that you need. I have a special love for my girl Sarah, who held my hand through the whole process making this transition for my Mom seamless. It has only been one month but my mother has transformed and has become more social and is loving her newfound home. I personally can sleep better knowing that my Mom is safe and secure and all her needs are being met. Thank you all at Four Elms, God has answered my prayers in finding a place like home for my mother. You are all a blessing in our lives.

I have been in many retirement homes in And around the GTA. Four Elms is one of the top homes that I have seen. They have an old-world elegance that makes you feel right at home. The quality and variety of the meals is top notch. This home provides value in every category. Everyone I met there cares about everyone that comes through the doors. If you are looking for a retirement community for yourself or a loved one, be sure to check out Four Elms.

My Mom, Shirley Richman was a resident of Four Elms, Thornhill. She was always treated with dignity and respect snd she referred to her caregivers as sweetheart. She enjoyed all her meals as if she was dining in a fine restaurant. Luis , the GM and the rest of the staff were always available when needed.

We have had and are still having the most amazing experience with Four Elms. Louis and the staff are kind, helpful and competent always willing to listen. The dining room is a well run restaurant with delicious meals and efficient staff. Daniella and the nursing staff are so efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, also kind and available to help 24/7. It is a happy warm loving environment. Highly recommended.

Five years ago, my husband and I started searching for a Retirement Residence with a "community" feel. A discouraging year later, we went to the Four Elms and saw the large guest parking area, the pretty courtyard where people were sitting enjoying the sun and conversation, the well-attended Activity Room, the Bistro, the Gym and Theatre, the Games room where people were playing cards, scrabble, and billiards, the library with complimentary internet, the Legends Cafe which is open 24 hours a day with all the snacks you could want, and heard the chatter among the lunch companions in the dining room. My husband said: "This is it; this is where I want to live," and for the first time in a year, I thoroughly agreed. When we moved in almost four years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the staff who were always there for us, 24 hours a day, when my husband became ill.
This review may sound a bit over the top and too good to be true; however, the Four Elms lived up to all our expectations, from the capable and caring nursing staff, the cheerful and helpful housekeeping staff, the welcoming and professional front desk staff, and my interesting and friendly fellow peers. I highly recommend the Four Elms to anyone looking for an all-encompassing Retirement Residence.

Four Elms is a well kept and managed retirement home.
Unfortunately, my mother (due to her medical situation), could not enjoy the various activities available.
The staff was attentive and minor, typical problems were dealt with promptly and professionally by the general Manager Luis Oliveira.
It is a place I would warmly recommend to my friends.

Our parents lived at Four Elms for over a decade. Over the years they, our father in particular, participated in several activities that he found interesting, especially art. There was no shortage of choices for those that were interested. The staff were always kind, thoughtful and respectful. As the end of Dad's life came closer the nursing staff were wonderful and attentive. I'd like to compliment all the staff from the administrative folks who made our dealings with them easy and hassle-free, to the maintenance team who were always ready to repair anything, the nursing team who were caring and skilled, the housekeeping staff who made sure his home was in good condition, and finally the servers who interacted with my parent's several times a day....always greeting them with a smile and accommodating their culinary wishes as best they could. While no place is as perfect as your own home, Four Elms was a safe and caring environment that met the needs of our ageing parents.

My experience with Four Elms has been AMAZING!! Everyone is always so friendly & accommodating.. The building always looks in immaculate condition -- so well maintained -- & it's a pleasure being in such a clean, cheery & beautiful environment.... Whenever I have needed information or advice, the staff are always there to help out with a smile... The PSW's & nursing staff do everything to keep my mother comfortable & happy -- Daniella, the head nurse, goes above & beyond & is just a doll. Whenever I speak to my mother on the phone, she's always raving about how kind the staff are & how well she's being treated. I highly recommend Four Elms to anyone who is looking for a senior residence, either for themselves or for a loved one.

My mom and dad had a beautiful apartment here until dad passed away after being here for 6 months...then mom was moved to the 2nd floor where her care was upgraded and for the next 6 years was very happy with her new surroundings. She had fantastic caregivers, the meals were fresh and well made and our family was very pleased with Four Elms.

My Mom started at Four Elms back in Nov 2018. Any concerns I had, were dealt with right away. All the staff, administration & managers (especially the Health & Wellness Manager) were very courteous and were there to answer any concerns/issues that I had. All the rooms & common areas were always clean & well kept. The nursing station was always quick to help when I needed them in an emergency. During the pandemic & lockdown there were very vigilant to keep all the residences safe with all the protective equipment, screening, swabbing etc. Four Elms also has great staff nurses that helped Mom with the extra assistance that she needed. The PSW from Paramed that work at Four Elms were very dedicated to Mom and they did a great job looking after my Mom's needs.
