I have a unique perspective and can review Southbrook from two different experiences. My grandmother was a resident from 2010 to 2017. She was not looking forward to moving from her own condo at all, and we had another place closer to where she was living set up for her. She sold her home before, so that place was not available, and I had toured about 20 homes in the year before she needed to move. Southbrook was my favourite for many reasons: the size, the friendliness, the feeling we got when we walked in, the rooms, the amenities, and it is very close to where the rest of her family lives. The price was right, too! I called Southbrook in a panic, and we were lucky that there was an independent living spot that would be ready for her. So, we went ahead and took that spot and moved her in.
The entire process was incredible. The room was beautiful and clean, the employees helped us with the logistics, and my grandmother was very, very happy for the 7 years she lived there. Eventually she went downstairs to the assisted living inside hallway and was treated with kindness and compassion. She passed away while living in the assisted living
The nurses, PSWs and every single person we encountered those 7 years were just exceptional. The food is also a massive hit! My grandmother gained weight very quickly and her entire outlook was positive and energetic. She started to go for walks outdoors, trips with her friends and took part in the activities. She always said she felt blessed to have found such a wonderful place.
Moving on to right now: I am in the process of arranging new living arrangements for my father, and it has been a whirlwind. Everything has had to happen very quickly. Again, we were blessed that there was a spot available immediately, and Southbrook worked with me at warp speed to help make this happen. Not only were they all incredibly kind and proactive, but Safina was helpful in helping me secure an incredible mover (Lina) and worked with my father and me to help us feel safe, welcomed and comfortable. This experience is very different in that the needs are different and confusing for me and my dad. Safina has just been a Godsend in helping us navigate the entire journey. My dad was very nervous and scared about leaving his home, but when we toured, she made sure to introduce my dad to many different residents, and they were all open and welcoming. He already feels like he belongs. The PSWs and nurses he met promised him that they would make sure he felt supported and cared for. I know this will be the case, since my grandmother already had that experience, but also because I have a few friends who chose Southbrook for their family members based on my personal reviews, and they are ecstatic with their choice.
This journey for families is filled with uncertainty and nervousness. I wish there were more Southbrooks.

Southbrook Retirement Residence is truly an unexpected hidden gem!! I moved my Uncle in about a month ago and I simply can't say enough good things about my experience. The staff (from the top to the bottom) have been nothing but positive, supportive, and compassionate. It really does feel like a genuine caring community, and my Uncle is thriving now because of it. I look forward to visiting him just to see everyone! If I could give infinity stars, I would!

Southbrook Retirement Home is wonderful, and I enthusiastically recommend them.
My Mom recently moved into the Assisted Living Area. All of the staff have gone above and beyond and always exceed our expectations. What impressed me the most was how they quickly recognized my Mom’s needs and made many adjustments to meet them. Caregivers provide essential support, care, compassion, and patience. At Southbrook, all of the staff have these wonderful qualities. When my Mom was welcomed into the Southbrook family, it wasn’t just my Mom they welcomed, our whole family feels like it’s home.

From start to finish, we were extremely impressed with the way SouthBrook accommodated my grandfather. Due to some personal family reasons, we had to move him out of the residence, yesterday [July 2025 -- ed.], and it was perhaps one of the most overwhelming and saddest moments for my grandfather and us.
To say that he was extremely happy during his stay at SouthBrook would be an understatement. The welcoming atmosphere, hospitality, level of medical attention, and care that my grandfather received were all beyond excellent. The entire team at SouthBrook deserves a huge thanks and shout-out for their commitment and hard work in accommodating seniors. Safina and Sumita were both very helpful during the moving-in process and throughout his entire stay. They regularly kept in touch with me to let me know how my grandfather is doing. The entire medical team, including Dr. Li and the nurses, also ensured that everyone received the best possible medical attention and care. I was promptly informed by my grandfather's nurse about his medical conditions and health. The chefs and kitchen staff cooked some of the best and healthiest meals, and the housekeeping staff regularly ensured that the rooms were always kept clean and well-maintained.
Overall, it was an amazing experience for my grandfather and us, and we would like to sincerely thank the team at SouthBrook once again for all their efforts! We would highly recommend contacting Safina if you are interested in reserving a room here!

My mother-in-law was a resident at Southbrook Retirement Residence for approximately 1 1/2 years before she passed away. This home shows compassion and understanding to all their residents. From Reception to Dining to Nursing to Admin staff, it is like an extension of your family. Even though my family member was in Independent Living, the staff went above and beyond when she needed help or assistance. I would highly recommend Southbrook to anyone looking for a Retirement Home themselves or for a loved one.

I was going out of town for 17 days, and my 81-year-old mother lives with me. Southbrook does short-term stays if you’re going out of town or just need a break. I was nervous at first, but Safina put those worries to rest. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and they went above and beyond for my mom. I honestly can’t express how much I appreciate the staff. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for their parent or parents a place to stay.

Southbrook Retirement Residence has exceeded all expectations as my parents embarked on a new chapter of their lives on March 25, 2024. From the moment they arrived, they were enveloped in warmth, hospitality, and genuine care. They were greeted with flowers and balloons hung on the door of their new home on the day of their arrival.
The staff at Southbrook, in particular individuals like Safina, Sumita, and the PSWs, have been instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition for my parents. During the orientation process, their graciousness and helpfulness were immediately evident. They took the time to address every concern, answer every question, and alleviate any apprehensions, giving us peace of mind and making my parents feel right at home from the outset.
Just three weeks into their stay, my Dad had told me how comfortable he and my Mom felt at the residence. It's a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the staff, who are working tirelessly to create an environment where residents feel safe, valued, and respected.
But what truly sets Southbrook apart is not just the quality of care but the depth of compassion displayed by the member of their team we have met thus far. Their commitment to ensuring the well-being and happiness of residents is evident in every interaction, whether it's a friendly smile, a reassuring word, or going above and beyond to meet individual needs. They keep checking in on my parents very often. Yesterday, the staff were kind enough to invite us to attend a special afternoon tea event for the residents, which my Dad enjoyed very much, especially when he was introduced as Paps.
I am profoundly grateful to the entire staff at Southbrook Retirement Residence for the care and compassion they have shown to my parents so far in their stay at the residence. Their support has already made a significant difference in my parents’ lives, and I am confident that this is just the beginning of a wonderful journey filled with warmth, friendship, and cherished memories.
SouthBrook Retirement Residence not only provides exceptional accommodations but also fosters a sense of community and belonging that is truly unparalleled. This gem is yours to discover, too. A sense of caring permeates the community of Southbrook Retirement Residence. My recent respite stay after knee surgery became an awareness adventure. Every aspect of caring is a top priority in contrast to many places I toured and researched. The Southbrook community residents and care providers are happy and confident of their choice for home within a positive atmosphere. Your new home has a comfortable, warm feel to it. You sense this "gem"
the minute you walk in.... their supportive care has an instant awareness of focusing on you. The cuisine is excellent, with healthy choices, variety, delicate seasonings, and always a sensitivity to special dietary needs. I highly recommend the Southbrook Retirement Residence. While in respite, I had excellent physiotherapy by Tarun of Get Right Physio both while in Southbrook and when home.

We were looking for a short-term place for my husband's mom at short notice and decided on Southbrook based on the reviews. We were not disappointed at all - from the time we did the tour till the day my mother-in-law came home after her stay.
Safina went above and beyond to coordinate and work with us and the doctor's office in order to make the move-in dates possible for us. I cannot thank Safina enough for all looking after all the formalities to ensure that everything was organised even though she was going to be away when mom moved in. I never had a chance to meet Safina at move-in or move-out, but I felt so much at ease during our phone conversations in addition to the million emails that she took the time to patiently respond on time.
Komalpreet was the nurse that did the initial tour for us and she is the sweetest nurse ever. We were so impressed by her positive and calm attitude and she also looked after mom-in-law very well. I did not meet the other nurses due to their shift schedule but was told by mom-in-law that all the nurses are really nice.
And I must not forget about the lovely Alexa at reception - such a cheerful and fun young woman. We interacted with her a couple of times and she was such a joy to see at reception.
All in all, we loved Southbrook for the size of the place, the residents there seemed like they were taken care of (I even chatted with a couple folks and they were happy with the services), the food menu is delicious and lots of activities for seniors. Southbrook will definitely be our first choice if we have to pick a home for mom-in-law in the future.

In my first visit at Southbrook Retirement Residence, I was fortunate to meet Ms. Safina Jivraj, Community Relations, who organized the facility tour. She was gracious, polite, and informative about the terms and the conditions of occupancy and appreciated my challenge of selling my home and a car in the United States prior to my move to Canada. At this point, I committed myself without hesitation to stay at Southbrook Retirement Residency in Brampton. Additionally, Ms. Marissa McIntosh, Social Director, is another person who should be acknowledged for her willingness to assist with the homecoming. Finally, I wish to acknowledge that I have made the right decision to stay at the Southbrook Retirement Residence. The staff have been polite, helpful, understanding, and respectful. The residents are treated respectfully and services are performed in a timely fashion.

My mum stayed at Southbrook for a week to check out the place and see if this place was for her. I must say the staff was very professional, caring, and most of all so accommodating. Safina, Marisa went over and above to make her stay a comfortable one. The food was delicious, hygienically prepared, and lots of variety. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very bright. They have daily entertainment of some sort Mon-Fri so this is a place I would definitely recommend for your loved one if you want to have peace of mind that they are being cared for and well looked after in your absence. Staff made her stay a memorable one!

My mother has resided at Southbrook for exactly 4 weeks now. I live across the country, so I haven’t actually been to the facility yet, but both my mother and my brother (who lives nearby) are extremely pleased so far. They both rave about the meals and the friendly, helpful staff. From day, one, I have been in frequent contact with the administrative, care, and nursing teams, and I am extremely impressed by the organization, attention to detail and diligence with which this residence appears to operate. It’s early days in my mother's journey at Southbrook, so I feel it’s premature to give it a full five stars. However, we are very pleased so far and relieved to have Mom living there. It feels as if she’s in very good hands. Thanks Southbrook team for all you do do on a daily basis to make my family’s life so much easier, and in Mom’s case, so much better.

My mother unexpectedly needed a place to convalesce following what should have been a routine surgical procedure. I was left scrambling to find a residence that could accommodate her and provide the environment she needed to recover. Southbrook came through for us. They took her in the day following their assessment at the hospital, and they graduated her from an assisted living program to a regular resident's program as she progressed. Although my mother was only staying for 3 weeks (they allowed us to book a week at a time) everyone treated her as a new member of the Southbrook family -- one of her dining companions gave her a farewell card when she finally went back home. We also appreciated the extra attention from Safina to make sure my mother was happy and well cared for during her stay. My mother didn't have to worry about meals, cleaning, laundry, even getting her hair done; Southbrook handled it all. We would readily choose Southbrook for another convalescence (should the need arise) and will definitely consider it for permanent retirement living

My parents are in a suite at Southbrook. The transition to Assisted Living was difficult for my parents and the family, however, [it was much easier] with the help of all the staff:
- the social committee especially Marissa
- Safina with helping all of us navigate everything that was new
- Sumita with all of the Nursing care services
- and Jatinder who quickly got to know my parents and their needs
While living without independence has its challenges, Southbrook has gone above and beyond to help Mom & Dad transition to this stage of their lives. There are so many others that I have not mentioned but we are thankful for each of them.

I recently became a resident as of Mach 11th 2021. My first impressions are warm welcoming very family-like. The staff are wonderful you couldn’t find a better staff. The residents are friendly as soon as I stepped through the doors I felt I belonged, meals are tasty, and I really look forward to meals as I’m a foodie.

Very happy with the great service our 93 year-old mother has gotten from Southbrook for the past year and a half. All the staff are very helpful and go over and above expectations for anything mom needs. Thanks to Safina who did a great job getting us set up and for supporting us ever since. Thanks also to everyone from the front desk to nursing to social to the dining room etc. etc. for all the great service and care!
Of particular note, since Covid-19 hit the world, Brenda has shown great leadership and care in making sure all residents and staff are as safe as possible while allowing for family to connect when possible. Brenda and her staff have shown great attention to the safety and comfort of all residents at Southbrook while keeping family up-to-date via email communications. Their continued close monitoring/testing of staff and residents at Southbrook and swift reaction to any potential issues before any outbreak can take hold in the home has been remarkable!
