Atmosphere is something you can’t fake. Inside The Wellington on a typical day, you’ll find the warm atmosphere that arises from a community of people who obviously feel at home here. This feels like a great place to be, no matter who you are, what your age, or whether you are visiting or living here.
This community is ideal for Calgary families and seniors looking for something a little different, something a little more ideally relaxed. The location just outside of Calgary in Rocky View County, is an idyllic location that offers quiet, country living close to the city. In addition, this is close to the highway, making it easily accessible for family members from throughout the area.
My friends are treated very well here.
I really have nothing but good to say about the care my friend received from the people of the Wellington. From Ms. McArthur the Manager and Taylor the Care Manager thru to Nettie, Bobbie, Dwayna, Surong, Laurie, and I know I have missed some, who where so kind and wonderful with Fred. I know somewhere in him is the memory of how much you people meant to him and the value of the care you gave him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for looking after Fred so well. I can only hope and pray he gets half the care you guys gave him, because half would be amazing. You gave your hearts, and it showed.
My cousin loves it here, great to visit her!!
Staff are friendly and the residents all seem content and comfortable.
Joe and Christina moved into The Wellington in 2020. After a month, we asked them if they would move back to their house and the answer was a resounding "nooooo". It became home very quickly. That is a testament to the staff (who become friends) and fellow residents. Joe and Christina would unanimously confirm they have enjoyed living in The Wellington.
As a person with a family member in the Manor facility, I can say that the communication from everyone has been amazing. I have sat down for a meal that they have provided, and it was delicious. The staff and residents are extremely friendly and shout out to Emma Thorn for helping my family navigate trying times!
Wonderful place, my grandma lives here and gets amazing care. This is a beautiful and amazing place for anyone 55+ looking for a calm and peaceful living, the staff absolutely care for all of the residents.
What a lovely place. The staff are all so kind and full of compassion and knowledge! The nurses go above and beyond and the whole place is clean and sanitary (a priority for my family)! The food is also amazing and I really appreciate all the activities and fun events the staff plan. It really brightens the patient's days and helps the days not blend in to one another. I think it's vital to have something to look forward to and socialization for quality of life and to ward off dementia! Thank you Prince of Peace! You've given me peace of mind and joy!
The staff vigilantly guard against infection from every angle. My mom is quite appreciative of your efforts, as well as all the accommodations you provide for her.
My Mum, who is 97, has lived at Prince of Peace Manor for three years. She has some dementia and she loves living there. She says the food is very good and the staff are professional, kind, helpful and not intrusive. I have found the standard of care to be excellent and staff go the extra mile to ensure that residents are healthy and safe. My Mum and I are happy we found the Prince of Peace Manor.

At The Wellington in Medicine Hat, we support residents through a warm welcome and personalized orientation. Our team introduces new residents to staff, community spaces, and daily routines while learning about their preferences. We offer a close-knit, responsive environment where residents are known by name. Families choose us for our transparent communication, tailored care, and genuine warmth. Seniors appreciate the balance of independence and support, making The Wellington a trusted and preferred choice.
We understand that moving into a retirement community can be both exciting and overwhelming, which is why we offer a range of personalized supports to help residents adjust and feel at home. Each new resident receives a comprehensive orientation led by our department managers, along with a detailed resident handbook for ongoing reference. During the initial transition period, we assist residents to and from meals and activities to ensure comfort and ease. To foster social connections, we pair long-standing residents and newcomers at meal times so they can mingle and form friendships.
At The Wellington, we closely monitor each resident’s well-being and adjust support as needed. If care needs change, our team works with the resident and family to explore options—whether that’s modifying services, bringing in external care providers, or transitioning to a more suitable suite. Moves within the community are handled with care and clear communication, minimizing stress. If a resident’s needs exceed what we can provide, we assist in coordinating a smooth transition to another Park Place Seniors Living community or care setting, ensuring continuity and comfort.
Our team conducts regular wellness assessments and remains in close communication with residents and their families to ensure that care plans remain appropriate and responsive to each individual’s needs. Our goal is to ensure residents continue to receive the right level of support while maintaining as much independence and dignity as possible. A resident may need to move units or to a different level of care if their needs exceed what we can safely and effectively provide in their current living arrangement. This might occur if they require advanced memory care, 24-hour skilled nursing, or other specialized services. We offer hands-on support throughout the transition process.
The Wellington is not be the best fit for seniors requiring 24/7 medical care or advanced memory support, as we are not a licensed long-term care or dementia home. Our community is ideal for those seeking independent or supportive living with flexible services, but not for those needing intensive clinical oversight. Prospects looking for large-scale amenities or highly specialized programs may prefer a larger residence. Our strength lies in personalized attention, a close-knit setting, and a balance of independence and support—values that may not align with every senior’s priority.
We are an ideal choice for seniors who value a modest, faith-based lifestyle rooted in community. Our environment is best suited for those who appreciate a supportive, faith-based atmosphere. We may not be the right fit for everyone; particularly those seeking specialized healthcare for complex medical needs, a highly independent or urban lifestyle, or apartment-style living with full kitchens and a strong desire to continue cooking, cleaning, and maintaining full autonomy. Our priority is to help each senior find a community that truly matches their needs and values. If that place isn’t with us, we’re more than happy to help guide them in the right direction; because to us, the right fit matters more than simply filling a room.
Many residents are pleasantly surprised by how quickly they feel at home at The Wellington. While some expect a quiet, clinical setting, they discover a vibrant, social atmosphere with personalized care and genuine warmth. The Wellington creates a close-knit community where residents are known by name and staff are highly responsive. Newcomers often comment on the flexibility of our dining options, the friendliness of fellow residents, and the ease of settling in. The experience is more engaging, supportive, and personal than many expect from retirement living.
Moving to a senior living community can feel like a big step. For many, it initially seems like a loss of independence, a sign that they’ll have to give up the routines and activities they enjoy. But time and again, our residents at Prince of Peace discover the opposite. Once they settle in, they find themselves more socially engaged, more active, and often stepping outside their comfort zones to try new things. What once felt like a step back becomes a meaningful step forward in quality of life.
Over the next five years, The Wellington will continue evolving to meet the changing needs of seniors in Medicine Hat. We plan to enhance flexible care options, expand wellness programming, and strengthen partnerships with external providers to support aging in place. Our intimate scale will remain a core strength, allowing us to personalize services while integrating new technologies and feedback-driven improvements. These efforts reflect our mission to offer dignified, resident-centered living and will further position The Wellington as a trusted, responsive community for seniors and their families.
