Atmosphere is something you can’t fake. Inside The Wellington on a typical day, you’ll find the warm atmosphere that arises from a community of people who obviously feel at home here. This feels like a great place to be, no matter who you are, what your age, or whether you are visiting or living here.
This is the destination for Lloydminster and area residents who appreciate the best things in life. Many exceptional highlights make this superior to other retirement residences in the area. The chef-prepared fine dining makes this a great place to host family events; the food is wonderful. The skilled professionals here focus on a holistic approach to health and wellness that includes physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The community life here revitalizes residents who find new social connections and a daily selection of activities.
My friends are treated very well here.
I really have nothing but good to say about the care my friend received from the people of the Wellington. From Ms. McArthur the Manager and Taylor the Care Manager thru to Nettie, Bobbie, Dwayna, Surong, Laurie, and I know I have missed some, who where so kind and wonderful with Fred. I know somewhere in him is the memory of how much you people meant to him and the value of the care you gave him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for looking after Fred so well. I can only hope and pray he gets half the care you guys gave him, because half would be amazing. You gave your hearts, and it showed.
My cousin loves it here, great to visit her!!
Staff are friendly and the residents all seem content and comfortable.
Joe and Christina moved into The Wellington in 2020. After a month, we asked them if they would move back to their house and the answer was a resounding "nooooo". It became home very quickly. That is a testament to the staff (who become friends) and fellow residents. Joe and Christina would unanimously confirm they have enjoyed living in The Wellington.
We enjoy visiting our mom at Hemstock!
I moved my brother here in Feb 2023. The facility is so warm and inviting, clean and bright. I love that they have so many activities for residents including great outings. The staff have gone above and beyond to help us as my brother has an acquired brain injury. Right from the first email till now they have been very helpful and accommodating.
I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to have my father stay at Hemstock while visiting in Lloydminster. The staff was wonderful, supportive, qualified, kind, and helpful. Hemstock is a lovely, welcoming environment, clean, organized, and accommodating. The staff went above and beyond to make my father's stay and my vacation stress-free and enjoyable.
My mom has been a resident of the Hearthstone for a little over two years. When we first enquired about transitioning her from her home, the team at Hearthstone did everything possible to make her comfortable and the transition was seamless. Fast forward two years, my mom recently fell and broke her hip, the team at Hearthstone is doing everything they can to accommodate her needs through wellness support, meal deliveries and even relocating her so her room will be closer to the dining room. The staff has gone over and above to once again make her transition as smooth as possible. The staff truly cares about the well-being of all the residents. It gives me peace of mind knowing my mom is in good hands.
My husband and I reached out to the Dr. Hemstock facility on behalf of our neighbour who was recovering from major surgery. We were looking and hoping to find a respite room. The staff, ALL of them, opened their arms and basically a Christmas miracle happened in a very, very short time. Our friend is comfortable and happy.
As a premier Park Place multi-level care residence, The Wellington provides Independent and Supportive Living options for seniors seeking to maintain independence while enjoying access and services to amenities. This picturesque community provides our residents and their families the opportunity to enjoy the varied local shops and restaurants located in the city’s downtown area, within close proximity from our residence.
Welcome to Dr. Hemstock Residence & Hearthstone Place! We offer independent retirement lifestyles along with personalized support for when you need that extra support to make the day great. Our community has been newly renovated in 2023, and it's designed with a focus on the heritage and natural environment of the Lloydminster area. A warm community atmosphere and best-in-class services and amenities await you.
At The Wellington, we offer a warm, personalized living experience with a unique blend of independence and support. Responsive staff, and flexible dining with daily meals in our beautiful dining room. Families appreciate our transparent communication and tailored care, while seniors value the comfort, connection, and dignity they find here making The Wellington a preferred choice in Medicine Hat.
We are a family. “Together”, we shape who we are. We instill our values and our vision to create a "Resident-Centric" environment. Staff inspire our residents to experience fulfillment on a level that means something to them. As a community, we strive to deliver sensitivity and care, by respecting all members of our residence. We feel that upon establishing these values, we have created a family-based community. This enables us to shape who we are, and creates a family within a community.
At The Wellington in Medicine Hat, we support residents through a warm welcome and personalized orientation. Our team introduces new residents to staff, community spaces, and daily routines while learning about their preferences. We offer a close-knit, responsive environment where residents are known by name. Families choose us for our transparent communication, tailored care, and genuine warmth. Seniors appreciate the balance of independence and support, making The Wellington a trusted and preferred choice.
We can offer a buddy system for new residents. This helps them build a sense of belonging. All the managers meet with our new residents allowing them to get to know them. This allows them to feel comfortable with our staff. Our dining room is open seating, creating an environment that helps them get to know other residents. We also encourage family to visit to help make the transition easier.
At The Wellington, we closely monitor each resident’s well-being and adjust support as needed. If care needs change, our team works with the resident and family to explore options—whether that’s modifying services, bringing in external care providers, or transitioning to a more suitable suite. Moves within the community are handled with care and clear communication, minimizing stress. If a resident’s needs exceed what we can provide, we assist in coordinating a smooth transition to another Park Place Seniors Living community or care setting, ensuring continuity and comfort.
At Dr. James Hemstock Retirement Residence and Hearthstone Place, we respond to changing needs with a thoughtful and compassionate approach. As residents require more support, our team works closely with them and their families to coordinate additional services and care in a way that respects dignity and individuality. Our goal is to ensure residents continue to feel comfortable, supported, and part of the community they call home.
The Wellington is not be the best fit for seniors requiring 24/7 medical care or advanced memory support, as we are not a licensed long-term care or dementia home. Our community is ideal for those seeking independent or supportive living with flexible services, but not for those needing intensive clinical oversight. Prospects looking for large-scale amenities or highly specialized programs may prefer a larger residence. Our strength lies in personalized attention, a close-knit setting, and a balance of independence and support—values that may not align with every senior’s priority.
Someone looking for a more formal retirement setting or even a minimalist lifestyle may find another environment better suited to them. Our caring, compassionate community is rooted in relationships, compassion, and a sense of belonging. We’re a strong fit for seniors who like a healthy social life, personal attention, and who want a residence where people are known and cared for as individuals.
Many residents are pleasantly surprised by how quickly they feel at home at The Wellington. While some expect a quiet, clinical setting, they discover a vibrant, social atmosphere with personalized care and genuine warmth. The Wellington creates a close-knit community where residents are known by name and staff are highly responsive. Newcomers often comment on the flexibility of our dining options, the friendliness of fellow residents, and the ease of settling in. The experience is more engaging, supportive, and personal than many expect from retirement living.
We exceed expectations because we genuinely care for our residents. We try our hardest to make our new residents feel included. Our Life Enrichment is a wonderful team, that plans many outings throughout the year. Our staff understands that each resident is an individual and we treat them as such. We get to know each resident, who they are, and what their life story is.
Over the next five years, The Wellington will continue evolving to meet the changing needs of seniors in Medicine Hat. We plan to enhance flexible care options, expand wellness programming, and strengthen partnerships with external providers to support aging in place. Our intimate scale will remain a core strength, allowing us to personalize services while integrating new technologies and feedback-driven improvements. These efforts reflect our mission to offer dignified, resident-centered living and will further position The Wellington as a trusted, responsive community for seniors and their families.
Over the next five years, we’ll continue to build on the values that define our community: compassion, respect, and connection. Our focus will remain on enhancing the resident experience through attentive care, meaningful engagement, and an environment where each person feels valued. Growth for us means strengthening the sense of home and belonging that residents and families already trust.
