Our community has been newly renovated in 2023, and it's designed with a focus on the heritage and natural environment of the Lloydminster area. From the moment you arrive, we’re focused on helping you feel at home. Our team takes the time to understand your preferences and routines, while introducing you to dining, amenities, and daily activities at your own pace. With concierge services, welcoming common spaces, and a strong sense of community, it’s easy to connect and settle in. Everything is designed so your transition feels smooth, supported, and reassuring.
We can offer a buddy system for new residents. This helps them build a sense of belonging. All the managers meet with our new residents allowing them to get to know them. This allows them to feel comfortable with our staff. Our dining room is open seating, creating an environment that helps them get to know other residents. We also encourage family to visit to help make the transition easier.

Riverwalk’s full continuum of care—from independent living to supportive living, assisted living, and memory care—allows us to easily support you as your needs change. Care is tailored and introduced thoughtfully, allowing you to remain in a familiar environment. It’s also ideal for couples with different care needs, where one may require additional support while the other remains independent, so you can continue living in the same building easily and comfortably.
At Dr. James Hemstock Retirement Residence and Hearthstone Place, we respond to changing needs with a thoughtful and compassionate approach. As residents require more support, our team works closely with them and their families to coordinate additional services and care in a way that respects dignity and individuality. Our goal is to ensure residents continue to feel comfortable, supported, and part of the community they call home.

Riverwalk may not be the right fit for someone who needs clinical or institutional care. Our focus is on lifestyle, engagement, and inspired living, supported by care that adapts as needed. We’re best suited for individuals who value independence, connection, and a vibrant community, rather than a more medicalized environment where care is the sole focus.
Someone looking for a more formal retirement setting or even a minimalist lifestyle may find another environment better suited to them. Our caring, compassionate community is rooted in relationships, compassion, and a sense of belonging. We’re a strong fit for seniors who like a healthy social life, personal attention, and who want a residence where people are known and cared for as individuals.

1) Riverwalk presents like a luxury, boutique, resort hotel. There is nothing about Riverwalk that feels institutional.
2) No need for a car. Riverwalk's walkable location is close to almost everything you need.
We exceed expectations because we genuinely care for our residents. We try our hardest to make our new residents feel included. Our Life Enrichment is a wonderful team, that plans many outings throughout the year. Our staff understands that each resident is an individual and we treat them as such. We get to know each resident, who they are, and what their life story is.

1. We are located in Canada's only provincial border city.
2. We have 131 suites between our two buildings, Dr. Hemstock and Hearthstone Place.
3. We can easily accommodate dietary needs. Whether it is a low-sodium, diabetic, celiac, or you have allergies, we can incorporate it.
4. We have a receptionist working seven days a week, including holidays. They are a friendly team, that are happy to help with our resident’s needs.
5. Each suite has the resident’s names outside so that friends and family know where they are.
