This retirement residence offers the very best in senior living, with onsite features and pampering that go far beyond people's typical expectations of retirement care. There are also simple pleasures to be had here – including the large outdoor courtyard where friends meet, and new friends are welcome, a menu of delicious daily selections, and friendly staff eager to meet your wishes. It's an ideal retirement destination for seniors from across southwestern Ontario, where you can spoil yourself with excellence.
The Village of Glendale Crossing creates a good-natured community made up of both seniors and staff. The care and nursing staff here get an especially high grade for “going that extra mile” as part of their daily routine. With the opening of Phase 3 in 2023, The Village became a fuller, more vibrant community that benefits strongly from Schlegel’s town square layout and other features. Friends meet each other throughout the building, and a lively daily activities schedule further enhances the social life.
Wonderful, caring staff.
Stayed here for a respite recovery. The food was amazing, and the staff could not have been nicer. Many of them went out of their way to help out or just say hello/chat each day. Enjoyed many fun meals/activities with many of the residents who could not have been more lovely. I was sad to say goodbye to them when I'd recovered enough to return home. My post-surgery recovery went well, I think, in part to the time I spent at Longworth and the positivity that surrounded me while I was there.
I can't say enough about how well my mother is being cared for in the nursing home side. She is never lonely and she is happier than she has been in a long time. From housekeeping and foodservice, to her new doctor and nurses, the staff here are all very warm, energetic and caring. There is someone checking on her four times a day for meds, plus three times a day for snacks, plus three times a day for meals, then there's help getting dressed in the morning, and at bedtime.(she gets many hugs throughout the day, in the course of her care, so the psws get a special thank-you from us both.)Then add the weekly visit from an amazing doctor, the activities and physio. My mother raves about the food. I'm writing this review because I never heard anything positive in the media, and most of us only take the time to review to "warn" others of bad experiences. My mother is safe and happy here and we consider ourselves very fortunate.
Compassionate, trustworthy & knowledgable staff that work really hard to make the home nice & keep it safe! The staff are empathetic & know their residents well. The food is really amazing too! It is clean, friendly & a beautiful atmosphere! You can see that it is a nice community & a lot of residents are enjoying their time & have formed friendships! Thanks to all the staff for the exceptional level of care!
The facility is beautiful, but the staff are incredible. They lovingly cared for our precious father up until he went to palliative care. I don't think they believe in the word 'no' - always positive and supportive.
As the owner of a business that supports seniors who are transitioning homes, we have moved many clients into Glendale Crossings. The whole village has a wonderful vibe to it - I see seniors out of their rooms engaging in activities and the goings on of village life. There is always a bustle of activity throughout the home and a very social place when in the village. The staff is always warm and inviting and very caring towards the residents and guests. It feels very bright, spacious, and friendly - always clean and well maintained - I would certainly recommend!
As always, I had a good experience. The staff is great. I enjoy visiting with my siblings, and I am always welcomed by the staff.
My father and I had a wonderful lunch followed by a tour with Monika. We found the home open, clean, spacious, warm, and welcoming. We had lunch at the Ruby, which was a real treat, and the food was excellent. My parents are on a wait list but we have been invited to several of their events, the latest being an educational lunch and learn session on Alzheimer's. Feeling part of the community there makes all the difference. Lots of activities in a modern setting with friendly staff on site. Much gratitude for all you do!
When our elderly relative could no longer live independently and needed help with meals and some daily care, we took him to meet the team at Glendale Crossing for a tour. We were all impressed with the facility, from the 'village' concept with a town hall, meeting space, coffee lounge, and other common area amenities, it genuinely feels like a small community. The place is spotlessly clean, and meals are both nutritious and delicious, the staff is relentlessly attentive, and we have never once had a cause for even the mildest complaint. Glendale Crossing is a high-end retirement community, and it shows with every attention to detail and the quality of the staff, but if your relative or family can afford it, we highly recommend it as an option.
The team at Glendale Crossing Retirement Residence is a pleasure to work with. Monika and Holly are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely care about building meaningful relationships in the community. They are truly dedicated to supporting seniors and their families.
Longworth is perfectly located between the quiet neighbourhoods of Westmount and Byron Village in the southwest area of London. The residence surrounds a large, lush courtyard for residents to spend time outdoors enjoying the beautiful gardens or their private patios. Longworth is an established residence with a reputation of providing the perfect balance of living an independent active lifestyle with on-site care support.
The Village of Glendale Crossing, just off Singleton Avenue in London, is a prominent focal point in a blossoming neighbourhood making this Village a true community hub. In Fall of 2023 we opened our Retirement Phase with a total of 227 suites that consist of Independent Living, Retirement Apartments, Full Service Retirement Suites, Assisted Care Suites and Memory Care Suites. The Retirement Phase joined our Long Term Care Village of 192 suites that has been in operation since 2010.
At Longworth Retirement Residence, we focus on creating a lifestyle that feels both refined and relaxed. Residents enjoy beautifully maintained gardens, a large courtyard, and walking paths that encourage time outdoors, along with engaging programs and attentive service indoors. What we do especially well is bring together comfort, hospitality, and active living so residents can enjoy each day at their own pace.
The Village concept that sets us apart was always meant to create a living space for seniors that feels like a small town. In many ways this is similar to the experience our founder, Ron Schlegel, had growing up in Ailsa Craig outside of London, Ont. Our Main Street connects to the Town Square as the social spine of the Village. Together these spaces allow for indoor and accessible options for residents to live life as they always have. Ron also envisioned the Village as community hubs for seniors and others from the surrounding community. His vision was to connect the Village to the broader community to enhance the lives of residents as well as support those living outside the Village.
When someone moves to Longworth, our team takes time to help them settle in comfortably. We introduce new residents to the dining room, common spaces, and daily routines that shape life here. Just as importantly, we help them connect with neighbours and staff so they quickly begin to feel part of the community. Our goal is to make the transition welcoming and reassuring from the very beginning.
Each resident who calls the Village home, comes with a unique life story. By completing our My Experience (ME) Form, you help us better understand your life, experiences, values and preferences. In order to support you to live well within our village, we need to begin by hearing your story. Your dedicated Village Experience Coordinator helps guide you through this paperwork and helps make the move-in experience as smooth as possible. Our resident Welcoming Committee strives to help their new neighbours feel welcomed and connected.
As residents’ needs evolve, additional services and supports can be arranged so they can continue living comfortably within the community. Our team works closely with residents and families to ensure the right level of assistance is in place while preserving independence and dignity. The aim is to help residents remain confident and supported while continuing to enjoy the lifestyle they value.
New residents often say “I wish I had done this sooner!” They’re surprised by how quickly they become absorbed in the community and how fast new friendships develop. In no time at all, everybody knows their name and like in any small town, a walk down Main Street is an opportunity to connect with friends and new acquaintances. People are also surprised by opportunities offered to grow and learn in their new community. They find new passions like hosting a podcast, riding a mechanical bull, becoming an artist or fulfilling a lifelong dream of skydiving. As they say, the possibilities are endless.
Someone seeking a residence designed primarily for advanced medical care may find another option more aligned with their needs. Longworth Retirement Residence tends to suit seniors who appreciate a peaceful setting, attractive surroundings, and an active community lifestyle. Our community works best for individuals who value comfort, connection, and supportive retirement living.
Glendale Crossing may not be the right fit for someone looking for a very private or independent lifestyle without much connection to others. Life in the Village is designed to feel like a small town, where relationships, shared spaces, and daily interaction are part of the experience. Residents should also be comfortable living in a community where fellow neighbours have a variety of different care needs. We are a full continuum of care Village and we strive to make it a place where everyone belongs. We’re best suited for people who want to be part of a community—to know their neighbours, to be known by name, and to live in a place where connection and belonging are part of everyday life.
Many residents are pleasantly surprised by the sense of calm and beauty that surrounds the residence. The courtyard, gardens, and walking trail create a setting that feels both peaceful and inviting. At the same time, the friendliness of residents and staff often stands out, making the community feel warm and welcoming from the start.

We’ll continue building on the qualities residents already value—healthy aging, attentive service, and an active community atmosphere. Our focus will remain on providing a comfortable environment where residents can stay engaged, enjoy meaningful connections, and feel supported as their needs evolve.
As we look ahead, we’ll continue to build on the Village concept that defines life at Glendale Crossing. That means deepening our connections within the broader community, expanding opportunities for learning, creativity, and engagement, and continuing to listen to residents’ stories through tools like our ME Form. We will also strive to evolve our care and service offerings given the changing needs of our residents. The Village will keep evolving as a place where people can live fully and receive the support they need while staying connected, and continue to discover new passions, just as they would in any vibrant small town.
