The Terrace is ideal for London and area seniors who are still active and want the very latest in senior living accommodations. The newness of this community is wonderful, found in the spaciousness of the lobby and the bright open feel created by the expansive windows. The contemporary feel extends to personal suites and their features like generous closet space, French doors, and individual temperature control.
The Village of Glendale Crossing creates a good-natured community made up of both seniors and staff. The care and nursing staff here get an especially high grade for “going that extra mile” as part of their daily routine. With the opening of Phase 3 in 2023, The Village became a fuller, more vibrant community that benefits strongly from Schlegel’s town square layout and other features. Friends meet each other throughout the building, and a lively daily activities schedule further enhances the social life.
Dorchester Terrace Retirement Living graciously offered free space and snacks for a low-cost thought management program I've been piloting. (The program teaches the skill of 'thought management' to women who experience anxiety or overthinking, as a strategy to cultivate more peace in challenging situations.) Dorchester Terrace's community room is BEAUTIFUL, and so is the entire facility. Each time I go in, I'm amazed by how clean everything is, how friendly and professional the staff is, and how many fun recreational activities seem to be offered every day.
My brother and mother moved into Dorchester Terrace in August. We fell in love with the Terrace after a personalized tour with Christina Swanson. Our entire family feels immense comfort knowing that our loved ones are being so thoughtfully cared for by the Wellness Team. The facility itself is beautiful, with a wide range of activities to keep everyone engaged. The Dining Room and Bistro offer a delicious variety of meals and snacks, ensuring that residents always have tasty options to enjoy.
Nice new facilities. My parent stayed there for respite care. A good experience. Caring staff, nice meals.
The staff at this beautiful, energetic, and above all friendly... [They] deserve a medal for their care in building, and the quality finishes they used. It's wonderful coming to visit and going for a walk around the grounds, a sit down on the patio, or a coffee in the bistro!
The Staff are all so friendly and helpful. So are the residents. There's also lots of activities and entertainment. I love that [mom] is closer to me. The Staff are very receptive to any of my requests. All in all, [it's] a great place.
As the owner of a business that supports seniors who are transitioning homes, we have moved many clients into Glendale Crossings. The whole village has a wonderful vibe to it - I see seniors out of their rooms engaging in activities and the goings on of village life. There is always a bustle of activity throughout the home and a very social place when in the village. The staff is always warm and inviting and very caring towards the residents and guests. It feels very bright, spacious, and friendly - always clean and well maintained - I would certainly recommend!
As always, I had a good experience. The staff is great. I enjoy visiting with my siblings, and I am always welcomed by the staff.
My father and I had a wonderful lunch followed by a tour with Monika. We found the home open, clean, spacious, warm, and welcoming. We had lunch at the Ruby, which was a real treat, and the food was excellent. My parents are on a wait list but we have been invited to several of their events, the latest being an educational lunch and learn session on Alzheimer's. Feeling part of the community there makes all the difference. Lots of activities in a modern setting with friendly staff on site. Much gratitude for all you do!
When our elderly relative could no longer live independently and needed help with meals and some daily care, we took him to meet the team at Glendale Crossing for a tour. We were all impressed with the facility, from the 'village' concept with a town hall, meeting space, coffee lounge, and other common area amenities, it genuinely feels like a small community. The place is spotlessly clean, and meals are both nutritious and delicious, the staff is relentlessly attentive, and we have never once had a cause for even the mildest complaint. Glendale Crossing is a high-end retirement community, and it shows with every attention to detail and the quality of the staff, but if your relative or family can afford it, we highly recommend it as an option.
The team at Glendale Crossing Retirement Residence is a pleasure to work with. Monika and Holly are knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely care about building meaningful relationships in the community. They are truly dedicated to supporting seniors and their families.
Dorchester Terrace is a 4-storey, fully accessible 94 suite Residence offering local and area seniors studios, one bedroom, one bedroom with den, and two bedroom accommodations with a full spectrum of wellness support services including a first-response emergency system. The Village of Glendale Crossing, just off Singleton Avenue in London, is a prominent focal point in a blossoming neighbourhood making this Village a true community hub. The Retirement Phase joined our Long Term Care Village of 192 suites that has been in operation since 2010.

The Village concept that sets us apart was always meant to create a living space for seniors that feels like a small town. In many ways this is similar to the experience our founder, Ron Schlegel, had growing up in Ailsa Craig outside of London, Ont. Our Main Street connects to the Town Square as the social spine of the Village. Together these spaces allow for indoor and accessible options for residents to live life as they always have. Ron also envisioned the Village as community hubs for seniors and others from the surrounding community. His vision was to connect the Village to the broader community to enhance the lives of residents as well as support those living outside the Village.
When someone moves to Dorchester Terrace, we take time to help them feel settled and confident in their new surroundings. Our team introduces residents to the building, dining room, and daily routines, and helps them connect with staff and neighbours. With familiar faces and clear routines, the transition tends to feel comfortable and reassuring from the start.
Each resident who calls the Village home, comes with a unique life story. By completing our My Experience (ME) Form, you help us better understand your life, experiences, values and preferences. In order to support you to live well within our village, we need to begin by hearing your story. Your dedicated Village Experience Coordinator helps guide you through this paperwork and helps make the move-in experience as smooth as possible. Our resident Welcoming Committee strives to help their new neighbours feel welcomed and connected.
If a resident’s needs evolve, we’re able to provide additional support through our on-site nursing team, care staff, and built-in safety systems. Outside services can also be arranged when needed. Our goal is to ensure residents continue to feel safe, supported, and comfortable while remaining in a familiar environment.
New residents often say “I wish I had done this sooner!” They’re surprised by how quickly they become absorbed in the community and how fast new friendships develop. In no time at all, everybody knows their name and like in any small town, a walk down Main Street is an opportunity to connect with friends and new acquaintances. People are also surprised by opportunities offered to grow and learn in their new community. They find new passions like hosting a podcast, riding a mechanical bull, becoming an artist or fulfilling a lifelong dream of skydiving. As they say, the possibilities are endless.
Someone looking for a large, highly urban residence with a wide range of upscale amenities may find another setting more aligned with their expectations. Dorchester Terrace tends to appeal to seniors who value a quieter, more accessible community where support, comfort, and ease of daily living are the priority. We work best for individuals who appreciate a straightforward, well-supported lifestyle.
Glendale Crossing may not be the right fit for someone looking for a very private or independent lifestyle without much connection to others. Life in the Village is designed to feel like a small town, where relationships, shared spaces, and daily interaction are part of the experience. Residents should also be comfortable living in a community where fellow neighbours have a variety of different care needs. We are a full continuum of care Village and we strive to make it a place where everyone belongs. We’re best suited for people who want to be part of a community—to know their neighbours, to be known by name, and to live in a place where connection and belonging are part of everyday life.
Over the next five years, Dorchester Terrace will continue to build on what residents already value—reliable support, comfortable living, and a welcoming community atmosphere. Our focus will remain on enhancing services that promote healthy aging while ensuring residents continue to feel confident and at ease in their home.

As we look ahead, we’ll continue to build on the Village concept that defines life at Glendale Crossing. That means deepening our connections within the broader community, expanding opportunities for learning, creativity, and engagement, and continuing to listen to residents’ stories through tools like our ME Form. We will also strive to evolve our care and service offerings given the changing needs of our residents. The Village will keep evolving as a place where people can live fully and receive the support they need while staying connected, and continue to discover new passions, just as they would in any vibrant small town.

• Daily life includes three meals, housekeeping, linen service, and recreation programs.
• The residence is equipped with emergency response systems for added safety and reassurance.
