Our Perspective

How we see Magnolia Gardens

This community offers diligent support from the top down. Seniors here are effusive about the care and attention they receive, and the added joy they feel from the beauty of the landscape, design, and construction. Magnolia Gardens is a great place to live.

Tour the outside of this community and you’ll be impressed by the spectacular exterior's lush gardens and tranquil courtyard. That will give you a sense of the peace you'll feel if you move into this community. You see, you can create a clean, bright, cheerful environment, but to really make people cheerful takes more.

What we've heard from people who live here is that it’s a beautiful place to live, and they’re not just talking about the decor. Some people have been here for seven years or longer, which speaks volumes, we think. In a walk-through of the community, you can see all levels of staff interacting with residents. You’ll hear anecdotes from both seniors and family members about staff taking time to accommodate unusual requests and taking personal time to make residents’ lives better.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

When we opened in 2001, we were one of Langley's very first retirement living communities. Because of this, we have a very strong reputation—everyone knows Magnolia Gardens, and everyone knows someone who has lived in Magnolia Gardens. Our staff team is widely respected and beloved. We're known as a warm, welcoming and caring community. We are honoured to be a pillar in the community of Langley.

What supports do you offer residents as they adjust to life there?

Moving to a new community can be challenging, and we have an intentional process to help residents adapt to their new home. Meeting the Managers face to face is a key aspect of this process. Also, new residents are connected with a resident ambassador who visits with them, helps them get to know the lay of the land, and introduces them to new people. Connecting with staff and residents help make the transition to your new home easier.

How are residents supported if their needs change?

Magnolia Gardens has not responded to this question yet.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Magnolia Gardens has not responded to this question yet.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

Often new residents are surprised at how quickly they become part of the Magnolia Gardens family. Our staff work hard to get to know residents even on their first day so they can greet them by name. From the beginning, you feel like you're part of a larger community. Our service is personal, and we pay special attention to you as an individual—you are known, seen and loved in this community.

How will your community change in the next five years?

Magnolia Gardens has not responded to this question yet.

What five facts about your community should people know?

1. We feature 115 independent living apartments in addition to a 40-suite Care Centre, so we can offer a continuum of care to seniors as their care needs change.
2. Living car-free is easy! We have a courtesy shuttle for personal trips in the area. Our 18-passenger bus goes out for trips 2-3 times a week. We're conveniently located close to shops, services and civic amenities.
3. Our food is made fresh in-house daily, and our culinary team is led by a red seal certified Executive Chef.
4. Our apartments are open-concept with large living room windows that allow you to sit in your chair and enjoy the views.
5. Your voice matters to us. You have an open door to our General Manager to share feedback, concerns and questions.

I very much enjoy living at Magnolia Gardens. Apart from not having to worry about cooking, cleaning and having bed linens changed and laundered - as well as towels - I like the opportunities to participate - or not! - in a variety of activities, both in-house and in the community. Wendy Scott, visitor or friend

"I visit my old neighbour weekly. The care and attention my friend receives at MG is exceptional. While the staff "are just doing their job," the little extras they do go above and beyond the ‘tasks’ that are also necessary. I thank all of them for the sincere care they provide!"

Carolynn Baker-Dopson, family member

"We were lucky enough to get my Mom a room at Magnolia Gardens 2 years ago. It was the best thing that happened for my Mom. She has top-notch care, and the social activities are second to none! We have nothing but good things to say and appreciate how well my Mom is taken care of! We now have peace of mind knowing my Mom is in such good hands!"

Testimonials and Stories

  • What Bria Family Members Say: Randy's Story

Mom was born and raised in Vancouver and spent the majority of her entire life in Vancouver, so coming to Langley was a big change for her. Losing her partner, the uncertainty, being along, it was very worrisome and troubling for her. My wife and I, after doing our due diligence and looking into seniors’ communities, we chose Magnolia Gardens for my mother.

Upon bringing her out here, she was extremely nervous, and I must say, the entire staff, they’ve all been absolutely fabulous at making mom feel so comfortable and welcome. She didn’t know anybody; however, they were quick to introduce her to other members of the community; she has most certainly has picked up some very good and new friends.

So the transition to Magnolia Gardens has been so good for her. It’s been comfortable, she feels safe, she absolutely loves her suite, she raves about the meals. And she talks about Michael, the head chef, who not only makes her smile and gives her a good laugh on occasion but also is very accommodating of her choices and her diet.

After a couple of years of mom being out here, she wouldn’t want to be anywhere else; she’s extremely happy, she’s comfortable, she feels safer than she ever has in her entire life, according to her. And as well she has met some wonderful friends that surely will be lifelong friendships created here. And they have a ball. And she now calls it her forever home as she is so happy and feels so fortunate to be here.

General Manager's Message
Jane Bryce

Hi, I'm Jane Bryce. I've been the General Manager at Magnolia Gardens since March 2025. I joined Bria Communities in 2012 and worked as the Sales Manager for many years. I had the pleasure of moving many residents into Magnolia Gardens and getting to know the building and the business well before I became the General Manager at The Wexford, a Bria Community in Tsawwassen, BC.

Magnolia Gardens is a special place. Not only were we one of Langley's first all-inclusive senior living communities, but we're also the best! Our staff team is second to none and will make you feel part of the family while delivering excellent service.

Our Executive Chef and his culinary team prepare delicious meals in our kitchen, and you'll especially enjoy their culinary creations on special occasions.

We have lots of fun, and our Lifestyle & Wellness team specializes in parties, events and social hours that will make you laugh, sing along, and create many special memories.

We offer two types of supportive senior housing: independent living and a 24-hour licensed Care Centre. You and your family can rest assured, knowing you're in an environment that gives you the freedom to be yourself with the safety and support of a loving community.

I hope you'll come by for a tour and discover life at Magnolia Gardens. Feel free to contact me directly: [email protected]
