Which activities and amenities at Hawthorn Park Retirement Community do you enjoy most?
I enjoy the exercise programs, the swimming pool, and some of the others as well. At times when I can make it, I enjoy them all. I enjoy playing bridge. I enjoy playing bingo. I have lots to do, and I like being busy, and I’m as busy as I want to be. It’s great.

Anybody I talk to is happy to be at Hawthorn Park Retirement Community. They’re happy doing what they’re doing. There’s lots to do. So I have not heard any complaints at all, and I enjoy it here.

What made you choose Hawthorn Park Retirement Community?
16 or 17 years ago, I bought a condo next door, so I was very familiar with Hawthorn Park Retirement Community. When I moved here, I was able to get a membership, and I was able to take part in the activities that were going on over here, so I got to know the place really well.

The process of moving into Hawthorn Park Retirement Community was fine. There was nothing to it at all. I had lots of help, and I was not attached to anything, so I was able to get rid of a lot of stuff. My family helped too.

I felt at home right away, actually, my first night. I was on a new adventure, and I had worked myself up to this is what I’m going to do. This is part of my life. I’m changing, and this is what it’s going to be at Hawthorn Park Retirement Community.

Not really, no. So far so good.
What would you do differently if you had to start this process all over again?
I think I would do it all over again the same way I did it right now. That’s how I think right now.

What advice would you give to someone searching for the right retirement community?
I think they should look not only at the community but also at the area, what’s available in the area, like water. The amenities, grocery stores, restaurants, walking distance, whatever. They should look at all that as well.
I’m very happy at Hawthorn Park Retirement Community, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
