We take the time to understand your lifestyle, so when additional scheduled support is needed, it can be introduced in a way that feels natural and respectful. Our goal is to help you keep living life on your terms, in a familiar and engaging environment. It’s also well suited for couples with different needs, where one spouse benefits from added support while the other is fully independent.

Under what conditions would you advise someone against choosing your community?

Berwick Qualicum Beach is not the right fit for someone whose primary need is daily care or a more clinical level of support. Our community is designed for independent seniors who want to live life on their own terms, with services that enhance that independence. We’re best suited for seniors who value choice, privacy, and a refined, resort-style environment, where lifestyle comes first.

What might residents find surprising about your community?

We are proud to be locally-owned and operated by father and son, Gordon and Chris Denford. From the opening of our very first retirement community, the Denford’s realized the importance of creating a warm and welcoming community that put the needs of our residents first. Gordon and Chris are actively involved in the development and operation of each unique location and their philosophy of accessible, approachable and effective listening allows Berwick to adapt quickly to the residents’ changing needs. Their openness and commitment to our residents can be felt in every aspect of life at all our Berwick’s.

How will your community change in the next five years?

We’ll continue refining what independent retirement living can look like. That means elevating the lifestyle experience—enhancing dining, expanding wellness, and creating even more opportunities for residents to shape their days as they choose. As expectations evolve, so will we, but always with the same focus: offering a place where independence is protected, choice is respected, and daily life feels effortless.
