The Village Langley is a state-of-the-art memory care community, an ideal setting for people dealing with the adverse effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. They can live here safely, free to come and go wherever they like within The Village. Families' worries about tendencies to elopement dissipate. But there's so much more. Residents live a lifestyle that promotes more activity and requires less medication. The environment itself is a holistic treatment.
The Village is a singular innovation in memory care in Canada, built from the ground up with the needs of people with dementia top of mind. This offsets so many issues and negative behaviours, giving people a setting that’s familiar, friendly, and safe. Features include perimeter fencing and a Bluetooth-enabled security system that lets staff know the whereabouts of residents anytime, in real time. An important aspect of any design for memory care is de-institutionalisation and declinicalization of the care environment. In this true “village” that includes a general store, doctor’s office, hair salon, workshop, and more.
People live in colourful cottages here, attended by staff who are experts in their training and approach. On top of everything else, The Village is set in a quiet neighbourhood in one of the country’s most beautiful cities. We can’t imagine a better place for people with dementia.

My Grandpa moved in about 6 months ago, and our experience as a family and his experience have been wonderful. He's able to walk the grounds, eat great food, and receive genuine care, which puts everyone's mind at ease. Thank you to the entire team! We can't thank you enough.
Three years later, and my Aunt is still loving this very special home. The team here is exceptional, and they take the time to sit with her and care for her as if she were family. The Village is a special place. I am so happy my Aunt was able to move in here and get a beautiful room overlooking the grassy area. The staff is very attentive to her needs. She is happy she can now go for long walks on the grounds.
My wife has been at The Village Langley in assisted living (Holly House) for about 2 years. We were fortunate to be able to move her from her first care home to The Village Langley, which is much nicer in so many ways. It is a beautifully designed facility that truly feels like a village! There is always a warm and welcoming feeling there. There are beautiful walkways, flower beds, a red barn with animals, a pasture, and gardens. They recently added a very impressive water feature along “Main Street“. The staff are always very friendly and attentive, and do everything they can to make my wife comfortable and happy. They schedule a lot of interesting activities for the residents and encourage residents to participate. In my opinion, it is much like the best summer camp I ever attended as a youth! Lots of fun activities, good food, happy, friendly staff, clean, and beautiful buildings and surroundings. When my time comes, I hope they will have space for me at The Village Langley! Highly recommended, and our family has had no bad experiences at all!
After visiting and touring endless care facilities, there was simply no contest after we toured The Village Langley.
Not only did it check all the boxes we were looking for to provide the very best care, enrichment and quality of life for our mom but the concept and layout is designed to create a safe and welcoming neighborhood setting that you can call home.
It looks and feels like a village vs the standard care facilities that are less home-like and more institutional-like.
There is a place to gather with family and friends at the coffee shop/community center where you can sit by a fireplace or take part in the many activities. There is a hair salon, walking trails, gardens, an orchard, and a little red barn with chickens and goats. The property is tucked away in a very established, peaceful neighborhood a few kilometers from Langley City.
And, while the property and amenities are like no other, the real stars of The Village are the staff (and the pets that some of them bring to the Village). I visit my mom at different times throughout the week and have always experienced the staff to be so genuinely committed and passionate about truly providing a ‘person-centered’ style of care which is so vital for the specialized needs of those living with dementia.
It gives us peace of mind that our mom is receiving such respectful, dignified and tailored care for her needs to live the life she so deserves.
All senior care homes should be modeled after The Village Langley.
The Village gave my Mom the opportunity to live her best life in her last years. The Village is a paradise for loved ones living with dementia. It has the resources, training and incredible facilities in place to properly care for people with dementia. My mom lives in a true home-like environment, with accessible walking trails and tons of outdoor space, a garden full of flowers, vegetables, and even chickens. There is a community center and a whole host of programming. The Village feels like a true neighborhood. The staff is well trained in dementia care, and while she has aged and can no longer walk, she is always treated with compassion, dignity, and customized care. The Village has been designed as a place where the staff never has to tell a dementia resident the word "No". The residents of The Village receive custom care tailored exactly to what they need in the moment. In a landscape of care homes that do not have the resources or training to handle people living with dementia, and will often lock them up in hallway style living, or treat aggressive behaviours with a trip to the hospital, the Village truly is a remarkable gem. The Village is an incredible and very necessary resource for families living with dementia. We feel lucky to have our Mom in their care.
The staff and services are AMAZING, especially given the lockdown due to the Pandemic, the residents are truly lucky to make this place their home. So glad we found them for my Mom, I honestly can not think of a better place for her through this time.
My aunt lives there. She has the best care and is super happy.
My aunt was lucky to become one of the first residents here, and I have visited often. This is a truly groundbreaking facility and the staff are as patient and friendly as you'd hope for. I have noted the postings by others who are upset by the cost of living at The Village; asking "who can afford to live here?" and suggesting it is only for the elite.
While I could not afford to live here, that is due to my particular circumstances and life choices. My aunt can afford to live here for many years to come, but I want to share her story and show others that living like this is not reserved just for the wealthy.
Auntie M. and her family were sent to live in a BC internment camp during the war, when she was just a young girl. She left, barely into her teens; left her family and left school to return to the Lower Mainland to toil as a housekeeper for a wealthy family. She made this sacrifice to send money back to her parents and siblings. Later, after the war ended and everyone moved back to the Lower Mainland, Auntie M. found work in the Steveston cannery. She never completed her schooling; having to still help her parents and siblings and with little education, working in the cannery was what she could do. But, she was wise with her money, saved up, and bought a house. This house and her very dedicated savings are what allows her to enjoy life in the wonderful The Village now and for years to come. I am so happy that this amazing woman, who did hard physical work her whole life, sacrificed her youth and her education, is thriving at The Village due to her own self taught money management efforts. So to those who are affronted and snidely suggest that a community like The Village is an elitist utopian ideal, I suggest otherwise. Yes, it is costly but it is worth every penny for the high quality of care, the beautiful atmosphere and the priceless dignity with which residents are permitted to live. I couldn't recommend it enough!
We couldn't be more happy with the level of specialized dementia care and understanding provided by all the staff at the Village.
