Gain exclusive insight into life at The Village of Tansley Woods. Comfort Life’s exclusive verified reviews give you exclusive insider information.
Tansley Woods is ideal for a variety of people. Older adults who currently live alone love that they can have all their housework and meals taken care of, and can find friends to talk to just outside the door. For seniors who are advancing in age, there are customized levels of care focused exactly on their needs. The community here is warm and inviting.
Schlegel Villages supersede traditional seniors' care homes, creating a small town feel under one roof. Inside The Village, there's a chapel, general store, beauty salon and barber shop, along with spacious lounges and a tenth floor restaurant called the Ruby. Once you move in here, you'll adapt to the "small town feel" and find yourself comfortable with a friendly group of fellow seniors.
As with all Schlegel Villages, care provided benefits from the company's association with the Research Institute for Aging (RIA), at University of Waterloo. The village is split into several neighbourhoods, each focused around specific care needs. Just like in a regular village, these become friendly neighbourhoods where people greet and look out for each other. Families and seniors who are part of the village love it here; in particular, family members are pleased with how their loved ones are treated. Care also implies dignity and respect, two very apparent characteristics of interactions we've seen between staff and seniors inside Tansley Woods, a very pleasant, happy place to live.
We've collected reviews and testimonials from around the web that are relevant to you: those from residents and their loved ones.
I visit frequently and always find the staff welcoming and friendly. That is so important for your residence. Thank you for your good care.
Very friendly and pleasant staff. You feel very satisfied knowing that your friend is being well taken care of. Keep up the great work, especially on the second floor, for long-term assistance.
Always a very positive experience at Tansley!!
The staff here are truly caring and dedicated, and they've made a huge difference in my Stepmother's life. She's thrived since moving in, and it's clear the care provided goes far beyond the occasional mechanical hiccup. Perhaps we can balance our feedback with a bit more understanding and kindness, especially when it comes to issues that don't reflect the facility's overall quality of care.
Tansley Woods has amazing staff. It's always very clean, and they take great care of my grandmother.
Our mother was at Tansley in the long-term care area, in Oaklands. We cannot say enough about how kind, caring and attentive all the staff were. Although she only lasted a little over three weeks before she passed, we truly believe she received wonderful care right to the end. We need to mention one nurse, in particular, Sammar. She is exceptional. Sammar was professional, extremely knowledgeable and so wonderful to our mother Sherry, and our family. Thank you to all the staff at Tansley, and in particular Oaklands!
My father with early dementia moved into the Egerton floor two months ago and Marlene and all the staff are just amazing. The staff is so caring that my dad has thought he was in a Resort on some visits…no words can describe how wonderful they are to my father on this floor…they took care from the beginning to place him in a neighbourhood he would fit in, encourage him to do things he would never have done at home ad honestly just caring wonderful staff all around.
[Update Jan 2026]
The Egerton floor staff have been nothing short of amazing with my father. His heart health is so good now that he doesn’t have to visit the doc regularly and because the staff involve him with so much he is getting the proper exercise he needs…so even though his memory is unchanged his quality of life has improved tremendously …the rec directors for Emma’s East and Egerton also go out of their way to make sure the residents keep active and have fun and encourage family involvement…we have been blessed to be able to meet up with them on outings or be included for activities.
The staff at Tansley Woods are so caring towards the residents and their families.
An extremely nice, clean and friendly place to visit. We feel like we won a jackpot when our family member was accepted here.
The grounds are very nicely kept and the inside is decorated for any /all holidays. The staff are very friendly and caring. Always look forward to taking our relative out of his area and out to have a beverage where they have coffee stations with juice, water and fruit. Total thumbs up for this place.
My parents have been there for about 1 month. From the first tour with Janeny to the assessment with Paige prior to moving in - the experience was great! Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make you feel at home. My siblings & I know that our parents are in a safe and loving place where everyone considers you family.
Always lovely to visit my mother here. Staff is friendly and so are all the people I meet on my way. Clean and bright.
My friend Sheila is so well cared for...thank you all!
I dropped in to obtain further information regarding placing a family member, after having a tour a few weeks ago. I was assisted easily, and given information that helped. This provided insight into this home, and made me feel more comfortable in selecting this location, as I felt that the time was taken to assist our family.
Everyone is friendly and seems happy to be there.
A very caring staff.
We love Tansley Woods and the staff are caring and lovely.
Incredible staff... Really great facilities and the food Is good. 100% recommend. Great programs, activities and medical team. Thus is a AAA+++ 5 star facility.
My mother stayed here for a month while we were out of the country. Her time at Tansley Woods was very positive. My mother loved the staff and felt as though she was well looked after. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the servers in the dining room were very accommodating. Alexey was fantastic in guiding us through the initial process of getting my mother set up to move in, which does take some time. The move-in process was painless and Faz had set up the suite in such a way that really made my mother feel at home. When all was said and done, there were no surprise costs. Overall, a great experience.
Overall I think Schlegel Villages are as good as you can get and do a fabulous job considering the challenges in providing this type of service. The building set up is fabulous and very charming unlike a lot of other places I've seen. They have a very long waiting list to get in and unlike other places that say they have a waiting list and then tell you you're special so they can do you a favour and get you in right away, Schlegel really does have a long waiting list. That says a lot about them right there....
My mother was at their Arbour Trails location in Guelph for 4 years and I highly recommend it. She loved it there. Unfortunately her dementia increased and we had to move her to memory care and Tansley was closer to us so we moved her in August 2022. They do a good job of taking care of her. It's a tough job and I think you have to be a special person to do it. Getting people to do this kind of work is tough and I find the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I'm considered by many as a bit obsessive about getting things right and did a lot of looking and research and I'm very happy to have found this place for her.
[My loved one] likes the view from the restaurant. Good food. She is in memory care so it is a little hard to keep her occupied but they seem to have lots of activities, friendly staff, nice clean rooms. Downstairs is a nice little village setting with cafe, library, many more activities.
My Dad has been a resident of the Long Term Care in The Village of Tansley Woods for 2 1/2 years now and he is well cared for.
My parents love it here. Great place and great staff.
The facility is beautiful. The staff is outstanding. The food is wonderful. There is no better place I could imagine for my Mom.
