From LEV Senior Living, creators of superior retirement communities around the Golden Horseshoe, Winchester Glen brings their expertise and experience in senior care to this North Oshawa neighbourhood. This is the right lifestyle change for seniors in the area. It will also appeal to both history and equestrian buffs with nods to the Windfields Farms legacy.
You'll love it at Taunton Mills if you miss that old small town feeling of yesteryear and the easy friendliness that fostered. There's also a wide variety of activities to choose from, including exercising with friends, reading in the library, horseshoes, movie nights, or just hanging out on the patio in the summer. Onsite pampering includes a beauty salon and barber shop.
I moved my 96 year old father and 90 year old mother here from Kingston last March and it was the best thing we could have done. The building is laid out beautifully. Both mom and dad are happy here. The staff are like friends to them. Having nursing staff here makes them feel safe and secure. The food is terrific and the activities here help keep them happy. I highly recommend Winchester Glen.
Visiting a parent in a retirement home when you live out of province was made so, so easy by the warm hospitality of the Winchester Team. I stayed in a great guest suite so was just a short walk down the hall to see my Dad. The new building feels like a resort, but more importantly, it's good to know your parent is in the right place.
I researched and visited several places for my brother and the minute that Emily had finished our tour I wanted to sign him up. When we took him for his tour he immediately felt welcome. I can’t say enough about the staff, they are all so caring and friendly. When my brother needed medical assistance the staff was right there for him. Emily was so helpful answering all of our questions at every step along the way. Sara is amazing, she has made sure that my brother has been involved in social activities and meeting other residents. I feel good that my brother can live independently and has a great support system.
I was having some health issues [and] my kids wanted me to consider looking at Winchester Glen. I looked [then] went back to look more [and] took the plunge and moved in May. It’s coming up to 5 months and I cannot tell you how it has changed my life for the better. This is a beautiful new home with a wide variety of modern suites, phenomenal staff, great activities and the food is exceptional! …We have a theatre where we gather to watch sporting events and movies. There is a pub located on the 2nd floor where we enjoy cocktails while listening to live entertainment, common lounge where we play cards, shoot a game of pool, work on a jigsaw puzzle, go to our fitness room, hobby room, outdoor patio or just sit and chat. ... The decision to move was hard… but once it was made, I found everything else quite easy! I settled in quickly and feel very at home here. … [In terms of cost] it’s comparable to having my home. Here, all utilities are included, phone, cable, internet, and an emergency pendant. There are no maintenance fees, no utility fees, no property taxes - one bill, no stress! … I am happy with the closeness of everything I would need. ie. Costco, banks, restaurants, grocery stores, pet food, pharmacy and more! ...I have been very fortunate to meet some wonderful new friends that had the same fear and concerns that I had. Everyone is very kind and caring and you feel like they have been your friends and neighbours for years. For anyone considering Retirement Living, I can honestly say this transition has improved my quality of life and I wish I had moved sooner.
We love Winchester Glen! It's beautiful, spacious, amazing food and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Emily was so kind and went out of her way to make sure my dad and I felt comfortable during the tour They offered tons of information to make sure we were making the right decision. My dad now lives here and he really enjoys it. He sings praises about the staff, services and accommodations. It is a relief to us to not worry about his well-being.
My dad received fabulous care from all the staff - especially his Taunton Mills family in the Claremont Neighbourhood. The lines of communication were always open and we knew of any and all issues - and that gave us peace of mind. Thank you for everything you did for him including making him as comfortable as possible in his last days. And thank you for always making sure he got his "ice cream."
Our mother has been a retirement resident for 14 years and lived in an independent suite on the 6th floor of the north building for all of those years. She recently had a fall and she decided to move to the first floor. The help and guidance that we received from the staff was so amazing. They were all so very kind and considerate and answered all of our questions, always returning phone calls and doing whatever they could to make the move seamless. The suite was all set up for our mother upon her return. She was greeted by many staff members and was made to feel so welcome. We are very thankful for all of the assistance.
My parents moved into an Independent Living Suite in the South Tower back in 2020; my Mom was moved into the Dryden neighbourhood in long-term-care in December of 2021 due to her Alzheimer's. I give credit to the staff as I spent a fair bit of time there and I had the opportunity to see how challenging it could be - for the most part they were all great. My Mom became ill in February 2023 and ended up in palliative care in her room, and was treated with kindness and compassion during her final days. I give special credit to Diane McLean - the neighbourhood coordinator of Dryden as she was always there when we needed her which meant more than she could know.
The staff here are amazing. [My grandma] has lived here for years now with dementia. They give her outstanding care and you can easily see the love that they have for all of the residents here. By far the best retirement home I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. If I could give them 6 stars, I would. ❤❤❤❤
They are wonderful my husband got excellent care. Staff are the best.

Our Village is a proud part of a Canadian family tradition of community building that goes back 70 years. The first Schlegel family home became the foundation of what Schlegel Villages is today. Here at The Village of Taunton Mills, we offer several lifestyle options to meet a variety of needs. Our continuum of care allows for residents to age with us in place as their needs change. The residents we serve come from a range of backgrounds that thread together the fabric of our community, and while we know resident-centredness is a term that many lean on these days, we truly do focus on each individual’s wishes to guide our approach to service. Our Signature Programs help us focus on the individuality of each resident we serve. Our LIVING in My Today dementia care philosophy, for example, was developed by our team and our partners alongside people with lived experience. This provides our team the opportunity to learn exactly what it means to support a person who is experiencing the changing perceptions of dementia. We also celebrate the Wisdom of the Elder as another Signature Program, thanks to the inspiration of our founder Ron Schlegel. Ron once said: “The greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders,” and we honour the individual and collective wisdom of those we serve in ways large and small.
