Symphony Senior Living is ideal for seniors from throughout the Ottawa Region looking for a community that is affordably priced. There's easy access to the community from Highway 174, making visits stress-free for family from anywhere in Ottawa (or even further away). When discussing life here, residents highlight the caring staff.
We could highlight many exceptional things about this community, but memory care at the Ravines' is offered by experts highly specialized in this sphere. The interior design focuses on neighbourhoods, where dementia patients live in familiar surroundings that avoid the confusion created by more clinical environments. The Ravines' Healthy Minds Program is multi-faceted, focused on providing compassionate, well-rounded care for seniors with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Included in the program are support groups for family and other loved ones, music therapy that stimulates memory and positive interaction, staff trained in the Gentle Persuasive Approach, therapy through multi-sensory environments, and other components.
My grandmother has lived at Symphony for 5+ years now. The residents are amazing... The residents and Bob (maintenance staff) are the real heart of Symphony. Since his arrival, Bob has been working tirelessly... One of the residents (Pierette) volunteers to organize things like bingo and pizza for the independent buildings. Thank goodness for her! The residents consistently check up on each other, to ensure that each other is in good health and spirits. Such a lovely bunch of people. Thank you to everyone who makes Symphony a community!
We were nervous about moving mom to assisted living during covid. Would she be safe? Would she be lonely? We are so pleased with the outcome. Symphonies has gone to great lengths to keep its residents safe while providing great activities to keep them busy and happy. Mom's health is much better now because she eats well, has plenty of exercise and is surrounded by a very kind and helpful staff.
I don't think the administration knows just how wonderful their staff is. You have Rose's, a real gem of a nurse. She goes way beyond being efficient and loving to my mom. I text her photos of moms great-grandchildren and she shows mom the photos. I put my mom in Symphony just after the first lockdown. We had already secured the apartment and some furniture was in place. Then covid hit and we kept her out until July. The administration handle all those frighten families, the contracts and payments put on hold indefinitely. They were strict but fair. A special thank you goes to Jodi Davidson. I doubt anyone could fill those shoes and to Sandra Parent, totally professional! My mom loves it there. I love her being there. As much as I loved taking care of my mom, I will be forever grateful for my freedom.
My father has been with Symphony Senior Living for over 12 years. Initially he was in the Independent Living building and only recently moved to the main building to join their Assisted Living community. It has been a pleasure to deal with all of the staff there to make his stay so comfortable. They are truly hard working and a dedicated team that have managed to keep everyone entertained and safe during these challenging times of Covid-19. I applaud them all for a job well done and look forward to their continued success.
In September 2020, my dad ended up in the hospital for an extended period and was quite weak upon release. Mom could not take care of him so I moved them into assisted living at Symphony Orleans. When making inquiries, staff were very helpful and answered a lot of my emails even late into the evenings. Jodi and Theleah were quite helpful with the transition from Independent to Assisted. The move occurred during Covid therefore the 2-week quarantine was very difficult on my parents. As well, the fact that they were not allowed to leave the building to go on walks, or have visitors, has taken a tole on them. Nonetheless, they have met people and seemed to have made friends. I am very happy to see all the posts by Symphony Orleans staff of the residents and the many activities they share. The medical staff is also excellent as they take care of my parents’ now that I cannot and, during these difficult covid times, they keep me updated on my parents’ health. Great community.
My thanks to staff for their excellent help as I was at the Ravines for respite care for a hip replacement.
There are lots of things I appreciate about Ravines. I think the most significant benefit for me as a caregiver for my dad is that I'm seeing people that I know, who work there, other residents, and it's all part of a community where you don't feel like you're on your own. That's a big [relief] for me... Dad has some challenges with his memories and then he had a fall, and when he came out of the hospital, it was so nice to know that he had this place to go to, to transition to a place where he had more care.
Sunday February 7th, 2021 was a very special day for the residents of the Ravines. Monitored by Ottawa Public Health, our first COVID-19 Moderna Vaccines were given to us by teams of uniformed Ottawa Paramedics moving through our buildings door to door in a well planned routine... There had been significant planning by our excellent Managers and every employee worked so efficiently that we were even able to have lunch! Congratulations on a job well done! One month later on March 7th, 2021 we repeated our successful vaccination treatment with our second Moderna vaccines and the teams of Paramedics. In July, 2021 we achieved our goal of 100% of residents and 100% of staff having been vaccinated. We're proud and relieved to have to have achieved this level of safety and health protection. On September 2nd, 2021 we were given booster injections by nurses from the Ottawa Health Department. Our General Manager, Sam Sourchi, and all the staff planned and organized and followed up so that everything went smoothly.
My parents were residents of the Ravines Seniors' Suites and then the Retirement Residence from 2014 to 2021. The staff and management were caring, friendly and helpful. At times when my parents required additional assistance, staff was there to help and then followed-up to make sure that everything was okay. Sam Sourchi, the General Manager, is a skilled and proficient manager, who was able to resolve issues which at times felt impossible to resolve. The facilities are pleasant, clean and safe. This is definitely a nice place to live.
My mom lives here and she loves it.
