This is an ideal destination for Grande Prairie seniors who want to live well. The sophistication and splendour of the environment, the quality of people living here, along with the professionalism of staff make this much more than a home. As residents and family members will tell you, "It's the people who make this great."
This community is ideal for Calgary families and seniors looking for something a little different, something a little more ideally relaxed. The location just outside of Calgary in Rocky View County, is an idyllic location that offers quiet, country living close to the city. In addition, this is close to the highway, making it easily accessible for family members from throughout the area.
From entrance to a friendly atmosphere and throughout this is always kept spotlessly. Care Staff are cheerful & positive. The other residents are friendly. The dining room offers 2 choices of tasty entrees at meal times and the food is served to individual tables by friendly staff. Occasional Sundays there are buffet-style morning brunches offering superb quality and variety of selections. There is a private dining room that can be booked for private gatherings and enjoy the quality food, freshly made. There are also guest rooms that can be booked for overnight guests at very affordable rates. There is a queen bed, tv, and bathroom with linens. There is an activities room with a piano and pool table, used for regular entertainment events, church services, etc. Several quiet, comfortable sitting areas throughout. Tasteful decor. Well appointed.
My mother-in-law moved in on October 1, 2022, and we've all been very happy with everything so far. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The building is well-maintained and always clean. Meals are usually tasty, she says it's the best mushroom soup she has ever eaten!
There's no other facility like it in Grande Prairie. I really appreciate the people the staff and the friendly environment. It's a very nice building, but it's the people that make the building.
As a person with a family member in the Manor facility, I can say that the communication from everyone has been amazing. I have sat down for a meal that they have provided, and it was delicious. The staff and residents are extremely friendly and shout out to Emma Thorn for helping my family navigate trying times!
Wonderful place, my grandma lives here and gets amazing care. This is a beautiful and amazing place for anyone 55+ looking for a calm and peaceful living, the staff absolutely care for all of the residents.
What a lovely place. The staff are all so kind and full of compassion and knowledge! The nurses go above and beyond and the whole place is clean and sanitary (a priority for my family)! The food is also amazing and I really appreciate all the activities and fun events the staff plan. It really brightens the patient's days and helps the days not blend in to one another. I think it's vital to have something to look forward to and socialization for quality of life and to ward off dementia! Thank you Prince of Peace! You've given me peace of mind and joy!
The staff vigilantly guard against infection from every angle. My mom is quite appreciative of your efforts, as well as all the accommodations you provide for her.
My Mum, who is 97, has lived at Prince of Peace Manor for three years. She has some dementia and she loves living there. She says the food is very good and the staff are professional, kind, helpful and not intrusive. I have found the standard of care to be excellent and staff go the extra mile to ensure that residents are healthy and safe. My Mum and I are happy we found the Prince of Peace Manor.

Our Resident & Family Champion Program pairs newcomers with friendly peers who guide them through their first days. Families appreciate our “Celebrate Together” initiative, which honors resident milestones and fosters meaningful connections. With certified Health Care Aides on-site 24/7, weekly housekeeping, linen service, and nutritious meals, residents feel cared for and at home. Families choose Emerald Gardens for its vibrant atmosphere, compassionate staff, and commitment to celebrating every individual.
We understand that moving into a retirement community can be both exciting and overwhelming, which is why we offer a range of personalized supports to help residents adjust and feel at home. Each new resident receives a comprehensive orientation led by our department managers, along with a detailed resident handbook for ongoing reference. During the initial transition period, we assist residents to and from meals and activities to ensure comfort and ease. To foster social connections, we pair long-standing residents and newcomers at meal times so they can mingle and form friendships.
At Emerald Gardens, changing needs are met with compassion and flexibility. Residents are invited to annual Care Conferences with our interdisciplinary team to review evolving health and lifestyle needs. If a higher level of care is required, our team helps coordinate transitions to nearby communities like Prairie Lake Seniors Community, which offers long-term. Outside providers such as podiatrists, hairdressers, and dental hygienists are also available on-site. Families appreciate our proactive communication and personalized support throughout every stage of care.
Our team conducts regular wellness assessments and remains in close communication with residents and their families to ensure that care plans remain appropriate and responsive to each individual’s needs. Our goal is to ensure residents continue to receive the right level of support while maintaining as much independence and dignity as possible. A resident may need to move units or to a different level of care if their needs exceed what we can safely and effectively provide in their current living arrangement. This might occur if they require advanced memory care, 24-hour skilled nursing, or other specialized services. We offer hands-on support throughout the transition process.
Emerald Gardens may not be ideal for seniors requiring complex medical care or long-term care services. Our residence offers independent and supportive living, but those needing 24/7 nursing or hospice care are better suited to nearby communities like Prairie Lake Seniors Community. Families seeking highly clinical environments may find our vibrant, social atmosphere less aligned with their priorities. Seniors who value autonomy and community thrive here—those needing intensive care may need a different setting.
We are an ideal choice for seniors who value a modest, faith-based lifestyle rooted in community. Our environment is best suited for those who appreciate a supportive, faith-based atmosphere. We may not be the right fit for everyone; particularly those seeking specialized healthcare for complex medical needs, a highly independent or urban lifestyle, or apartment-style living with full kitchens and a strong desire to continue cooking, cleaning, and maintaining full autonomy. Our priority is to help each senior find a community that truly matches their needs and values. If that place isn’t with us, we’re more than happy to help guide them in the right direction; because to us, the right fit matters more than simply filling a room.
New residents at Emerald Gardens are often surprised by the vibrant, social atmosphere and personalized care. Many expect a quiet retirement setting but discover a lively community that celebrates milestones through our “Celebrate Together” initiative. Located near shops and services in Grande Prairie, Emerald Gardens offers both independence and support, blending convenience with heartfelt connection. It’s more than a residence—it’s a place to thrive.
Moving to a senior living community can feel like a big step. For many, it initially seems like a loss of independence, a sign that they’ll have to give up the routines and activities they enjoy. But time and again, our residents at Prince of Peace discover the opposite. Once they settle in, they find themselves more socially engaged, more active, and often stepping outside their comfort zones to try new things. What once felt like a step back becomes a meaningful step forward in quality of life.
Emerald Gardens is focused on growth, connection, and care. Over the next five years, we’ll expand our “Celebrate Together” initiative to deepen resident engagement through milestone recognition and cultural events. Leadership development will continue through Individualized Professional Development Plans, ensuring compassionate, empowered staff. We’re also enhancing sales support and care coordination with Prairie Lake Seniors Community to streamline transitions and improve continuity of care. These efforts reflect our mission to create a vibrant, inclusive home where every resident feels seen, supported, and celebrated.
