Amica is a trusted, premium name in senior living, with a reputation for helping seniors live a comfortable lifestyle in its lovely buildings. Amica Dundas brings to bear their three decades of experience in more than 30 locations Canada-wide.
Wentworth Heights is the perfect fit for Hamilton area seniors who miss the old days when you knew your neighbours, and everyone you met had a friendly "Hello." The village concept is truly unique and has to be experienced to be appreciated. Staff and residents love life in the village, and family members are thrilled when their senior family members find a home in such a vibrant place where they’re well cared for.
We recently moved our parents into Amica. What a tremendous experience! Mary, our main point of contact, was extremely knowledgeable and so very helpful. Any questions were responded to with top-shelf professionalism! This has been a stressful time for obvious reasons, but the transition has been seamless. The facility and staff are wonderful. Although there will be adjustments, we are looking forward to a great experience at Amica Dundas.
The Sip & Savour event was amazing. The many Greek dishes were scrumptious and plentiful. The employees did a lovely Greek dance, and residents and guests were invited to join in. Everything Amica Dundas does is “top drawer”.
Great place for mom. Safe and secure.
Everything went extremely smoothly right from start to finish. In fact, I can’t think of even one thing that was negative! It’s been very good. You have all been so patient and so much fun.
My parents moved in at the end of July. Melanie went out of her way to ensure their comfort and was excellent to deal with regarding their move. Lisa the GM was also very helpful and open to feedback. Now that they've been there a few months, they are enjoying the amenities, the programming and the location. I appreciate the efforts of all staff to engage residents in programming that fits their interests. Staff at the front desk, especially Carole and Yogi, are very welcoming. I would highly recommend Amica at Dundas.
I spent three months researching retirement residences. It didn’t take long for me to decide that Amica residences were a cut above the rest. Amica is philosophically aligned with my values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. That is reflected in everything they do, including the staff they hire and the programs they provide. Amica Residences are very pet friendly, and they consistently hav ... Read more
My parents have been living at Amica Dundas for 7 months now. Once my Dad lost his driver's licence they were completely dependent on family for all of their needs. Moving to Amica Dundas has given them back their independence and has given my sisters and me the peace of mind of knowing that all of their needs are being taken care of and that they have the support that they need today and will ... Thank you so much for taking such excellent care of my mother-in-law, Connie Lefebour.
My mother is in LTC, but we have the freedom to take her into the Retirement area and the LTC area. Every area of Wentworth Heights is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, so pleasant to walk around and sit in the comfortable seating areas. Today, we sat outside in the gorgeous main courtyard! The gardens are so well tended, the waterfall is so pretty and the fish are swimming around. The staff in LTC and in Retirement are consistently kind and welcoming to my mother and to my family. We consider ourselves blessed to have our mom cared for at the Village of Wentworth Heights... I stopped at the main office in LTC this morning to take care of my mom's account and was helped by a friendly and efficient staff member, then I visited my mother in LTC and took her out for a walk into the Retirement area of the Village. We stopped at the Riverstone Spa and Salon because my mom needed a haircut. The staff were very kind and accommodating and took mom right away for her haircut and curl. It was such a pleasant experience, and Mom looked beautiful when she finished. Thank you! The rest of the morning, we walked around and were greeted by many staff members and residents, such an uplifting experience. Our family is so pleased that Mom is helped by the caring staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights. Much appreciated!
Everyone is always very friendly, the staff and residents. It's a treat to have The Ruby in-house. It's great to see infection control is in effect.
The restaurant was excellent. Great food and service.
Amazing place with amazing staff!
Amica Dundas is tucked into a neighbourhood with an inviting combination of established homes and the lovely green spaces and walking trails of the Rotary Creekside Parkette directly beside us. Take advantage of boutiques, services and eateries just steps away or meet a friend for coffee at Detour Café. Our neighbours include the Hamilton Public Library, Dundas Valley School of Art, and Carnegie Gallery.
Hamilton's unique continuum of care Village featuring spacious Independent Living Apartments with full kitchens, Retirement Apartments, Full Service Retirement suites with walk out patios, Assisted Care, Memory Care and Long Term Care. Adding to our "Village" concept is our signature Town Square and Main Street. Our friendly, well trained team, include 24 hour professional nursing staff for your comfort and security. Come and discover why "It Takes a Village to Care".
At Amica, we empower residents to live independently while enjoying the peace of mind that comes with knowing total support is always available if needed.
Our diligent Wellness Team delivers professional, around-the-clock care that is personalized to each resident’s individual needs. Thanks to an in-depth discovery process upon move-in, we can ensure that each senior enjoys both the lifestyle and care experience that is best suited to them and their loved ones.
We take pride in the flexibility our residents have to plan their day as they wish: when and where they dine, which activities and social opportunities to participate in, when to enjoy downtime and more.
The Village concept that sets us apart was always meant to create a living space for seniors that feels like a small town. In many ways this is similar to the experience our founder, Ron Schlegel, had growing up in Ailsa Craig outside of London, Ont. Our Main Street connects to the Town Square as the social spine of the Village. Together these spaces allow for indoor and accessible options for residents to live life as they always have. Ron also envisioned the Village as community hubs for seniors and others from the surrounding community. His vision was to connect the Village to the broader community to enhance the lives of residents as well as support those living outside the Village.
Seniors are assigned a personal move-in liaison—one of the department leaders of the residence—to assist them with every step of the move-in process. We are happy to provide assistance with downsizing tasks before residents move in as well.
Once seniors arrive, they are paired up with a current resident ambassador. This ambassador helps the new resident navigate their first few days, guiding them and answering questions about all aspects of residence life.
Each resident who calls the Village home, comes with a unique life story. By completing our My Experience (ME) Form, you help us better understand your life, experiences, values and preferences. In order to support you to live well within our village, we need to begin by hearing your story. Your dedicated Village Experience Coordinator helps guide you through this paperwork and helps make the move-in experience as smooth as possible. Our resident Welcoming Committee strives to help their new neighbours feel welcomed and connected.
We understand that needs evolve overtime, and we are ready to accommodate residents with the following:
• Enhanced care services through to end-of-life, including Memory Care
• À la carte care services that seniors can add onto their current lifestyle option
• No obligation to move out once care needs change
Residents are supported when their needs change in multiple ways that foster their autonomy. When their needs change we can help provide the care necessary for them to stay in their current room or the person will have the option to transfer to another neighbourhood where those supports are included in the rent. Outside support can also come in to help with supports.
Each Amica residence has its own distinct atmosphere and sense of community, based on the building’s design, its team members and residents, among many other factors. We encourage seniors and their loved ones to gauge whether Amica Dundas feels like the right fit for them by touring the residence, meeting our team and current residents, attending events, and perhaps experiencing a trial stay. Our team is happy to answer all questions families may have, so that we can support them in the decision-making process—even if it means recommending another location.
Someone seeking a very private lifestyle with minimal interaction may find another setting more appropriate. At The Village, daily life is built around connection, shared spaces, and relationships among residents, team members, and families. It’s the right place for seniors who value being part of a community where people know one another and where care and companionship are part of everyday life.
Our residence is large in size (215 suites), but the community has an intimate, homey feel. Team members know all residents personally, including their needs and preferences. Seniors easily build friendships with each other as well, meeting during life-enriching activities, dining together and bonding over common interests.
New residents often say “I wish I had done this sooner!” They’re surprised by how quickly they become absorbed in the community and how fast new friendships develop. In no time at all, everybody knows their name and like in any small town, a walk down Main Street is an opportunity to connect with friends and new acquaintances. People are also surprised by opportunities offered to grow and learn in their new community. They find new passions like hosting a podcast, riding a mechanical bull, becoming an artist or fulfilling a lifelong dream of skydiving. As they say, the possibilities are endless.
In addition to having more seniors join our residence, we are always looking for ways to integrate more closely with the community-at-large. We are proud to be embedded in such a beloved town full of art and culture, and our vision is to grow with the surrounding area while doing everything we can to remain a strong community partner and a good neighbour.
We make it a priority to plan events and experiences that will serve the entire neighbourhood, so we hope seniors feel welcome to bring their family and friends to visit us!
Over the next five years, we’ll continue to strengthen the Village model that defines Schlegel Villages. Our focus will remain on deepening relationships with the broader community, enhancing opportunities for meaningful engagement, and ensuring residents can continue to live with purpose as their needs evolve. We see the future as a continuation of what already matters most here—care that is rooted in connection, belonging, and a true sense of home.
