Tansley Woods is ideal for a variety of people. Older adults who currently live alone love that they can have all their housework and meals taken care of, and can find friends to talk to just outside the door. For seniors who are advancing in age, there are customized levels of care focused exactly on their needs. The community here is warm and inviting.
This community is unanimously praised by residents and family members. It’s especially noted for the staff’s professionalism, personal warmth, attentiveness, and compassion. They go beyond duties to give personal time and express a personal interest in those in their care, and as one family member puts it, they anticipate needs. They create a warm community that makes seniors’ lives easier and better.
My mother stayed here for a month while we were out of the country. Her time at Tansley Woods was very positive. My mother loved the staff and felt as though she was well looked after. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the servers in the dining room were very accommodating. Alexey was fantastic in guiding us through the initial process of getting my mother set up to move in, which does take some time. The move-in process was painless and Faz had set up the suite in such a way that really made my mother feel at home. When all was said and done, there were no surprise costs. Overall, a great experience.
Overall I think Schlegel Villages are as good as you can get and do a fabulous job considering the challenges in providing this type of service. The building set up is fabulous and very charming unlike a lot of other places I've seen. They have a very long waiting list to get in and unlike other places that say they have a waiting list and then tell you you're special so they can do you a favour and get you in right away, Schlegel really does have a long waiting list. That says a lot about them right there.... My mother was at their Arbour Trails location in Guelph for 4 years and I highly recommend it. She loved it there. Unfortunately her dementia increased and we had to move her to memory care and Tansley was closer to us so we moved her in August 2022. They do a good job of taking care of her. It's a tough job and I think you have to be a special person to do it. Getting people to do this kind of work is tough and I find the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I'm considered by many as a bit obsessive about getting things right and did a lot of looking and research and I'm very happy to have found this place for her.
[My loved one] likes the view from the restaurant. Good food. She is in memory care so it is a little hard to keep her occupied but they seem to have lots of activities, friendly staff, nice clean rooms. Downstairs is a nice little village setting with cafe, library, many more activities.
My Dad has been a resident of the Long Term Care in The Village of Tansley Woods for 2 1/2 years now and he is well cared for.
My parents love it here. Great place and great staff.
Yesterday, my mother celebrated 20 years at Queens Avenue Retirement Residence. When she first arrived, there were few residents that had mobility issues. Since then it has been amazing to see the staff and management adapt to an aging population. Most recently the staff had to adapt to caring for their residents during a pandemic. They have done so beautifully. My family is thankful to have found this jewel of a place and are so grateful for the level of care afforded to our mom.
If you're looking for loving, compassionate, and holistic care for your loved one Queen's Avenue (QARR) is the ONE. Both of our parents were very fortunate to be family members of QARR. They were always greeted with an infectious smile and excellent care from the staff.
I would highly recommend the Queens Avenue Retirement Residence. As soon as you enter Queens Avenue you will find yourself in a very welcoming lobby. The recent renovations on the main floor, which include a sitting area with a fireplace, as well as a bistro, are very inviting. The apartments are spacious and well laid out. The best part of Queens Avenue is the staff! All of the staff, including housekeeping, kitchen, administration, and especially the PSW and nursing care staff have become like family. The attention to personal safety and well-being is highly apparent. During this uncertain time, I had full confidence in the goings on of Queens Avenue Retirement.
Our mom is the ‘difficult to please’ type. Queens Ave has done a fantastic job – especially during this time of quarantines with increased activities and client services. She is happy, which means a lot less stress for us. Special mention to Darlene and Tom for their responsiveness to us and to Gretal and the nursing team for going above and beyond including not only taking her to dentist and Dr appointments but dealing proactively with medical issues. Not to mention the time the team tended to her and managed her pain meds after she cracked her ribs. Maybe most importantly, the staff has conscientiously adhered to stringent safety policies resulting in what we understand is industry leading resident well-being.
It's fair to say that an excellent retirement home is not just were the staff are great and the food is good - it's a place where needs are more anticipated than just noticed; where nourishment is for the body, yes, but mind and spirit too. It's where our elders experience the care and loving they have given us - every month and week, day and moment of each year. It is where my uncle and aunt found a wonderful next home - where they became part of a larger family. Many years ago THEY chose the Queens Avenue Retirement Residence and we are oh so pleased they did.
Our Village is a proud part of a Canadian family tradition of community building that goes back 70 years. The first Schlegel family home became the foundation of what Schlegel Villages is today. Here at The Village of Tansley Woods, we offer several lifestyle options to meet a variety of needs. Our continuum of care allows for residents to age with us in place as their needs change. The residents we serve come from a range of backgrounds that thread together the fabric of our community, and while we know resident-centredness is a term that many lean on these days, we truly do focus on each individual’s wishes to guide our approach to service. Our Signature Programs help us focus on the individuality of each resident we serve. Our LIVING in My Today dementia care philosophy, for example, was developed by our team and our partners alongside people with lived experience. This provides our team the opportunity to learn exactly what it means to support a person who is experiencing the changing perceptions of dementia. We also celebrate the Wisdom of the Elder as another Signature Program, thanks to the inspiration of our founder Ron Schlegel. Ron once said: “The greatest untapped resource in Canada, if not the world, is the collective wisdom of our elders,” and we honour the individual and collective wisdom of those we serve in ways large and small.
WE ARE A CLOSE-KNIT COMMUNITY nestled in a scenic residential neighbourhood in Oakville surrounded by family homes and green space yet close to local shopping, dining and community services. It’s the perfect blend of quiet living with all the con-venience of an urban lifestyle. The beautifully landscaped grounds include a shady patio and wrap around deck bordered by mature trees. You can thrive, participate and enjoy access to our in-house supportive programs. Livita Queens Avenue is ideal for seniors who want to relax while pursuing their hobbies and staying active. All of our suites include full kitchens providing the flexibility to do your own cooking if you wish. Live Balanced - Live Better!
