The Village of Glendale Crossing creates a good-natured community made up of both seniors and staff. The care and nursing staff here get an especially high grade for “going that extra mile” as part of their daily routine. With the opening of Phase 3 in 2023, The Village became a fuller, more vibrant community that benefits strongly from Schlegel’s town square layout and other features. Friends meet each other throughout the building, and a lively daily activities schedule further enhances the social life.
Oakcrossing has quickly built a reputation for excellence, offering the highest quality retirement living in a state-of the art residence. Those who have moved here have quickly come to love their new life. Family members also appreciate the care available and the quality of the amenities here. Oakcrossing is a response to the needs of today's senior who want a place that will completely transform life. You'll cherish the new life you find in a community of friendly, engaged peers.
I have had the pleasure of being at Glendale Crossing since November 16, 2023. I have so enjoyed the whole experience, I have a beautiful room on the eighth floor and I have had nothing but a smooth move-in with assistance when needed. I really have to commend the Crossing staff as they have been welcoming, approachable, and supportive. I consider this a 5-star experience all the way around and I look forward to spending many happy years in this establishment.
The newly opened building of Glendale Crossing feels cheerful and welcoming the moment you enter the front door. The units themselves are very well finished, feeling luxurious. There is the added convenience of laundry machines in each unit. My mom does all her own cooking, she makes good use of the weekly shuttle to the grocery store(so I can’t comment on the food at the dining hall). She loves chatting with her new friends over a cup of coffee on the main floor cafe. The layout of the building allows for ample opportunity to socialize, as well as having a variety of scheduled daily activities offered within the building. The staff are very friendly and attentive to my parents’ needs, and will give individualized visits to their unit to provide information and encouragement. My mom feels extremely supported because any of her concerns are addressed promptly, thoroughly and professionally. I highly recommend this accommodation as an excellent environment for seniors.
Nothing but fantastic results. Attentive and helpful. Period. Our mom loves it here.
My mother Irene Reynolds was a resident in long term and she loved it there. The staff treated her with such kindness, support and more. She passed away in there and she was loved by staff and residents. I am now waiting for long term and Glendale Crossing is where I want to go to.
My mum lived on the Westminster Neighbourhood for a year following her stroke before recently passing away. The regular PSW's , RPN's, and RN's are incredible and went the extra mile to make sure she was comfortable, especially once we had to put her in palliative care. The food was very good, always with choice and accommodating to special requests. The physiotherapists kept her moving until that was no longer possible, and they offer a wide variety of extra curricular activities for the residents. They always made sure she was aware of what was going on, and would extend personal invites. She loved the spiritual program offered by Maureen, that was probably her favourite activity. Housekeeping was there every day, and they also take an active interest in the residents. Like most people mum did not really want to be there in the beginning but soon called it home and felt very lucky to live there.
My family were delighted with the outstanding care and support our Mother received when it became evident that she was unable to remain on her own. Oakcrossing made the transition from hospital to their facility a seamless and drama-free experience at a heightened time of sensitivity. Our Mother loved the food, her spacious and modern one bedroom suite but above all, the caring and empathetic staff. To them, she was not just another resident but a member of the Oakcrossing family. I would highly recommend Oakcrossing as a top level option for retirement living.
Having moved my Dad into Oakcrossing in September 2021 we are so thankful and pleased at this amazing facility. The staff is top notch, and I would love to name them all and give them a shout out, there are so many amazing people that work here I would be afraid of missing someone. I can't always visit due to distance, Oakcrossing makes it easy with an option for virtual visits which they set up completely, making it foolproof with my technology challenged Dad. There are lots of common spaces, and a variety of activities and events and my dad picks what he enjoys doing. He raves about the food... My Dad is honestly loving this facility. That is the greatest gift to family members, peace of mind, for those who worry about the health and happiness of an elderly loved one.
We moved here for the sake of my husband, John. He was in assisted living here for a while, then transferred to long-term care when a room opened up. I could just go down the hallway over to the other building. And I could see that he had very good care over there, too. It was a godsend, really ... The staff are wonderful. All very helpful. All wonderful. You just have to ask ... It's a wonderful community. Everybody here is friends. It's interesting, because we often find out we have connections and things in common even though we didn't know each other.
The food here is superior. It's a lot of little things that make a big difference. We've had some new people coming in, just for a lunch, and they told us, “we can't believe the chatting you folks do!†But that's how it is here. Everyone accepts you the way you were. There's no people up here or down there, it's all the same, no matter what your experience was, we're all the same.
My dad seems happy and contented living here, and my life is exponentially better. I visit him 4 or 5 times a week. When I visit my dad and look at his surroundings and the people there, I think to myself that if I had to live in a retirement community, I could easily live at Oakcrossing, and be quite happy there.
The Village of Glendale Crossing, just off Singleton Avenue in London, is a prominent focal point in a blossoming neighbourhood making this Village a true community hub. In 2023, Glendale Crossing will expand to include Retirement Living which will include Independent suites and Retirement apartments as well as Assisted Living and Memory Care suites. This will bring the total number of suites within the Village campus, to 420.
