Reviews of Magnolia Gardens

Gain exclusive insight into life at Magnolia Gardens. Comfort Life’s exclusive reviews and videos give you insider information from residents and their families.

Our perspective

This community offers diligent support from the top down. Seniors here are effusive about the care and attention they receive, and the added joy they feel from the beauty of the landscape, design, and construction. Magnolia Gardens is a great place to live.

Tour the outside of this community and you’ll be impressed by the spectacular exterior's lush gardens and tranquil courtyard. That will give you a sense of the peace you'll feel if you move into this community. You see, you can create a clean, bright, cheerful environment, but to really make people cheerful takes more.

What we've heard from people who live here is that it’s a beautiful place to live, and they’re not just talking about the decor. Some people have been here for seven years or longer, which speaks volumes, we think. In a walk-through of the community, you can see all levels of staff interacting with residents. You’ll hear anecdotes from both seniors and family members about staff taking time to accommodate unusual requests and taking personal time to make residents’ lives better.

I very much enjoy living at Magnolia Gardens. Apart from not having to worry about cooking, cleaning and having bed linens changed and laundered - as well as towels - I like the opportunities to participate - or not! - in a variety of activities, both in-house and in the community. Based on my experiences here, I would definitely recommend Magnolia Gardens to others. The one thing I would change, if I could, as a lifelong “cat person” I would be delighted if I could once again have a cat for company in my suite.

Being here has made life a lot easier. I have my laundry and housekeeping done. I'm very fussy, so I do my own dusting, but it's wonderful to have the bedding done and to have my bed made. My brother also lives here and he has all these things done for him as well. I do his laundry, personal laundry, and I do mine, but the rest is done for us. And it's just wonderful to have my suite done every week and my laundry done every week.

The meals here are wonderful. Scott is a terrific Chef, also he's a very personable man. I've come to really care for him. He's very sweet he's very kind. And also very reasonable when we make suggestions to him. The rest of the staff in the kitchen is wonderful, the servers are very helpful. They're always eager to help. And I have a lovely suite. It's just very cozy and warm, and with the furniture I chose, it's even more so. I love my little kitchen because I can just turn around in it. Not that I'm doing any cooking, but I make my toast and coffee.

It's a wonderful view for me to look at if I sit on my patio. It's beautiful. I have some beautiful trees around—a gorgeous maple tree across from me and fir trees behind. So it's very, very private, and it's very, very calming.

It's the best decision we ever made as a family for my mother-in-law to be here close to us in our community. And Magnolia has made it so easy for us to be with her, to communicate with them, to make sure she's happy and safe. Couldn't say enough about Magnolia. They've made this transition very easy.
The staff is unbelievable, they treat everybody here like they're their own relatives. They've done things that I haven't asked them to do that have made things easier for our family; made sure that she has everything that she needs; communicated to me and the family what she would need to make things easier; they've communicated with Fraser Health, the pharmacy, anybody that she interacts with. They all communicate together to make it easy and simple. And the best part is that I know that she's safe here. If there's a problem they call me, no decisions are made without us giving the okay.
It's just a really friendly homey place here. The meals are unbelievable, the activities are non-stop. There's always somebody checking on you coming to your room to see if you need anything else and also there's your privacy and your own suite. It's just like having your own home.

My Dad and I were given a tour of the residence's common rooms where they offered various activities and a look at the available suites followed by a lunch in the dining room and an explanation of the extras that came with the rental... He chose a suite that day!

Staff was kind and caring. He always enjoyed his meals. Activities were creative and there was something for everyone, be it carpet bowling, bingo, yoga or happy hour. Happy hour was maybe his favourite. Together we enjoyed various entertainers, often twice a week.

The residence is a few steps from a drug store, and about 3 blocks to downtown Langley allowing for some independence even though he wasn't driving anymore.

Absolutely the best experience one could hope for when providing care for their elderly loved one. We have been at Magnolia Gardens for about 7 years and they have gone above and beyond to meet every request and have done so with compassion and kindness. Pam Murphy who is the manager at Magnolia has been a godsend to me and my elder who has needed comprehensive ongoing care. We have been accommodated on every level including support from their rehab practitioner, caregiver referrals, nursing, mobile lab, in house chef menu, permission to have medical equipment (as long as it met approved safety standards) and spiritual support just to name a few. Recently, my elder had requested to go to a Catholic church but due to Covid restrictions, that is not doable at this time, I asked Pam if she knew of anyone with a spiritual background on staff and that same day, Michael went up to his room and very generously spent a few hours talking with my father which provided him with much peace. It is these gifts of humanity on top of a clean, bright and cheerful environment that make Magnolia and their caring staff exceptional. I can rest easy knowing that my elder is very safe and in good hands. I would highly recommend Magnolia Gardens
for you or any of your family members.

[I really appreciated] the way I was treated when I came to view the building to see if I liked it and would be happy here. And I was just overjoyed by the management team that showed me around and explained everything to me very clearly and specifically. It was just excellent and I jumped at it right away.

The highlight of Magnolia Gardens would be the staff, from the cleaning staff that come and clean your suite, the dining room girls that serve you your dinners [to] the management. If you have any concerns, you can go to management, sit down, talk with them and they're there to help.

If anybody that's moving their mom or dad…I would highly recommend Magnolia Gardens to you because your loved ones will be cared for, and that takes a big load off of a lot of people.

It's a very warm, beautiful place to live. It's really quiet and peaceful here. It's been a major change for me to come here and feel safe.

The transition to Magnolia Gardens has been so good for [my mom]. It's been comfortable. She feels safe. She loves her suite. She raves about the meals. She's met some wonderful friends here.
